Drought has a detrimental effect on crop production, affecting economically important plants' growth rates and development. is an important medicinal plant that produces many pharmacologically active compounds, some of which have significant antitumor activity. The effect of bulk salicylic acid (SA) and salicylic acid nanoparticles (SA-NPs) were evaluated on water-stressed plants. The results showed that SA and SA-NPs alleviated the negative effects of drought in the treated plants by increasing their shoot and root weights, relative water content, leaf area index, chlorophyll content, and total alkaloids percentage. From the results, a low concentration (0.05 mM) of SA-NPs exerted positive effects on the treated plants, while the best results of the bulk SA were recorded after using the highest concentration (0.1 mM). Both treatments increased the expression level of , , , , and genes, while the mRNA level of MPKK1 and MPK6 did not show a significant change. This study discussed the importance of SA-NPs in the induction of drought stress tolerance even when used in low concentrations, in contrast to bulk SA, which exerts significant results only at higher concentrations.

In addition to oncological applications, poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) inhibitors have potential as anti-inflammatory agents. Colon-targeted delivery of PARP inhibitors has been evaluated as a pharmaceutical strategy to enhance their safety and therapeutic efficacy against gut inflammation. Colon-targeted PARP inhibitors 5-aminoisoquinoline (5-AIQ) and 3-aminobenzamide (3-AB) were designed and synthesized by azo coupling with salicylic acid (SA), yielding 5-AIQ azo-linked with SA (AQSA) and 3-AB azo-linked with SA (ABSA).

Blackgram is an important short-duration grain legume, but its yield is highly affected by various stresses. Among biotic stresses, yellow mosaic disease (YMD) is known as a devastating disease that leads to 100% yield loss under severe conditions. The cultivated lines possess resistance, but exploring more diverse sources of resistance may be useful for pyramiding to improve the durability of said resistance.

Plants are sessile organisms that overcome environmental stress by activating specific metabolic pathways, leading to adaptation and survival. In addition, they recruit beneficial bacterial strains to further improve their performance. As plant-growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) are able to trigger multiple targets to improve plant fitness, finding effective isolates for this purpose is of paramount importance.
