This paper examines the effects of different loading patterns on the static characteristics of continuous concrete beams reinforced with external prestressed carbon fiber-reinforced polymer tendons (EPCFRPT) and qualitatively analyzes the results for two continuous concrete beams: SB-1 under symmetrical loading, and SB-2 under asymmetrical loading. Then, a finite element analysis model is introduced and calibrated by tests conducted at Southeast University and data collected from a literature review. Based on the FEA model, the initial prestress, cross-section area, and eccentricity of CFRP tendons as well as the steel reinforcement configuration were selected by a parametric study. The results indicated that the initial prestress and tendon cross-section area had the most influence on the tendon stress increment and the secondary bending moment of the middle support, while the reinforcement distribution and eccentricity of the tendons had little effect. The secondary bending moment had a linear positive correlation with the stress increment of tendons. These results allow a simplified equation for calculating the external load bending moment amplitude coefficient at ultimate to be proposed.

A method of bridge structure seismic response identification combining signal processing technology and deep learning technology is proposed. The short-time energy method is used to intelligently extract the non-smooth segments in the sensor acquired signals, and the short-time Fourier transform, continuous wavelet transform, and Meier frequency cestrum coefficients are used to analyze the spectrum of the non-smooth segments of the response of the bridge structure, and the response feature matrix is extracted and used to classify sequences or images in the LSTM network and the Resnet50 network. The results show that the signal processing techniques can effectively extract the structural response features and reduce the overfitting phenomenon of neural networks, and the combination of signal processing techniques and deep learning techniques can recognize the seismic response of bridge structures with high accuracy and efficiency.

During randomized controlled trials, it is critical to remain vigilant in safety monitoring. A common approach is to present information over time, such as frequency tables and graphs, when analyzing adverse events. Nevertheless, there is still a need for developing statistical methods for analyzing safety data of a dynamic nature.

Background: The centralization of decision-making power in the public health care system has a negative impact on the practice of professionals and the quality of home care services (HCS) for seniors. To improve HCS, decentralized management could be a particularly promising approach. To be effective, strategies designed to incorporate this management approach require attention to 3 elements: autonomy of local stakeholders, individual and organizational capacities, and accountability for actions and decisions.

Long-term erosion by acidic solutions in karst regions leads to continuous deterioration of the physical and mechanical properties at the interfaces of engineering structures, adversely affecting their operational performance. To investigate the degradation patterns of the mechanical properties and corrosion mechanisms of the concrete‒limestone composite (CLC) after exposure to acidic corrosion, three kinds of CLC samples treated with acidic solutions of different pH values were fabricated. Mechanical property analysis was conducted via triaxial compression testing methods.

This article explores the use of distributed fiber optic sensing (DFOS) technology in monitoring civil infrastructure, with a concrete example of an elevated railway bridge in Taiwan. The field test utilized multiple strain-sensing fibers attached to a 1 km span of a bullet train railway bridge, which were combined to calculate the 3-dimensional bridge deformation. The installed sensing system and continuous measurements enabled quick safety confirmation after earthquakes of Richter scale 6.
