Africa faces a significant burden of infectious diseases, including Malaria and HIV/AIDS, along with an increasing prevalence of non-infectious diseases such as diabetes and cancer. This dual health challenge is amplified by socioeconomic difficulties, restricted access to healthcare, and lifestyle changes, thus present unique scientific needs. Effectively addressing these issues requires a skilled scientific workforce adept in comprehensive healthcare strategies.

Purpose: Understanding navigational barriers and facilitators has the potential to advance equitable stroke care delivery. The aim of this study was to explore, using a qualitative study, the experiences of stroke survivors and their families as they journey through the stroke care system, both before and during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Methods: In-depth semi-structured interviews were conducted with 18 stroke survivors and 12 family members during 2021 and 2022.

We remember Dr Ajay Parida, a leading plant biotechnologist, whose premature passing has deprived the Indian plant science community of a committed scientist and an able administrator. Born on 12 December 1963 in Bhagabanpur, Cuttack District (now Jajpur district), Odisha, he passed away in Guwahati on 19 July 2022. A collegial scientist, his down-to-earth and approachable nature, as well as his resourcefulness were instrumental in advancing the cause of Indian science and harnessing frontier biotechnological tools as vehicles of social consciousness.
