Background: So-called scores are a frequently used evaluation system in clinical examinations to assess the function or limitations of a joint such as the shoulder. However, research indicates that these general scores often have limited validity for specific patient groups, such as athletes. Known as a demanding patient population, athletes have unique needs.

Introduction: When exercising to preferred music (PM), participants found more satisfaction and less typical exercise-related fatigue, which made it easier and more enjoyable to maintain the physical activity (PA) until the exercise goals were achieved. The purpose of this review and meta-analysis was to determine whether changes on internal training load in adult recreational athletes were modified by listening to PM and non-preferred music (NPM), during different PA.

Evidence Acquisition: A music-focused search was performed on the Google Scholar, PubMed, and Web of Science databases to identify relevant articles to this topic published after 2000 to investigate the effects of PM on psychophysiological responses to PA.

Mechanisms of Homoarginine: Looking Beyond Clinical Outcomes.

Acta Physiol (Oxf)

February 2025

Department of Biological Sciences, University of Alberta, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Purpose: Homoarginine (hArg) is an arginine metabolite that has been known for years, but its physiological role in the body remains poorly understood. For instance, it is well known that high hArg concentrations in the blood are protective against several disease states, yet the mechanisms behind these health benefits are unclear. This review compiles what is known about hArg, namely its synthetic pathways, its role in different diseases and conditions, and its proposed mechanisms of action in humans and experimental animals.

An MIL-53(FeNiCo) decorated BiVO photoanode for efficient photoelectrochemical water oxidation.

Dalton Trans

January 2025

Shanxi Key Laboratory of Gas Energy Efficient and Clean Utilization, College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Taiyuan University of Technology, Taiyuan, Shanxi 030024, China.

BiVO is considered as one of the important candidate materials for photoelectrochemical water splitting technology. However, the low efficiency of charge separation and poor kinetics of water oxidation limit its performance in PEC water splitting. In this work, a BiVO/MIL-53(FeNiCo) photoanode was constructed by a facile hydrothermal deposition method, exhibiting excellent water oxidation ability under AM 1.
