Complete dissociation dynamics of low-energy electron attachment to carbon disulfide have been studied using the velocity slice imaging (VSI) technique. The ion yields of the different fragment anions produced due to the dissociative electron attachment to carbon disulfide for the 5 to 11 eV incident electron energy range have been collected. Two resonances for S ions are observed at around 6.2 eV and 7.7 eV, while only one resonance for both the CS and S ions at 6.2 eV is present in this energy range. The kinetic energy and the angular distributions of these fragment negative ions at different incident electron energies around the 6.2 eV resonance have been extracted from the velocity slice images. These experimentally obtained angular distributions of different fragment anions combined with previous theoretical calculations provide a detailed picture of the breakdown of axial recoil approximation and the complete dissociation dynamics involved in this resonance.

The laryngeal mound (LM) formed the caudal part of the pharyngeal floor, which varied in position, shape, and length at different ages. This work aimed to study the morphogenesis of the LM in the embryonic and post hatching periods grossly, histologically, and by scanning electron microscopy using forty-eight Japanese quails. The LM primordia appeared on the 8th day of incubation as a raised elevation carried on a deep median symmetrical sulcus (glottis primordium).

Molybdenum nitrogenase plays a crucial role in the biological nitrogen cycle by catalyzing the reduction of dinitrogen (N) to ammonia (NH) under ambient conditions. However, the underlying mechanisms of nitrogenase catalysis, including electron and proton transfer dynamics, remain only partially understood. In this study, we covalently attached molybdenum nitrogenase (MoFe) to gold electrodes and utilized surface-enhanced infrared absorption spectroscopy (SEIRA) coupled with electrochemistry techniques to investigate its catalytic mechanism.

Bacterial cellulose (BC) is a novel biocompatible polymeric biomaterial with a wide range of biomedical uses, like tissue engineering (TE) scaffolds, wound dressings, and drug delivery. Although BC lacks good cell adhesion due to limited functionality, its tunable surface chemistry still holds promise. Here, hydroxyapatite (HA) was incorporated into a citrate-modified BC (MBC) using the biomimetic synthesis in simulated body fluid (SBF).

The virus particles described in the previous chapters of this book are vehicles that transmit the viral genome and the infection from cell to cell. To initiate the infective cycle, the viral genome must therefore translocate from the viral particle to the cell cytoplasm. Via distinct proteins or motifs in their outermost shell, the particles of animal viruses or bacteriophages attach initially to specific receptors on the host cell surface.

Preoperative evaluation of the cross-sectional area of the semitendinosus tendon using magnetic resonance imaging is useful. However, studies comparing the cross-sectional area of the semitendinosus tendon on magnetic resonance imaging and the collagen fibril diameter of the semitendinosus tendon are lacking.
