A lepidic adenocarcinoma mimicking an eosinophilic lung. | LitMetric

Lepidic adenocarcinoma is a cancer with atypical radiological presentation making its diagnosis difficult and late. Here,we report the case of a 64-year-old man, who presented with respiratory distress his thoracic CT showed ground glass areas and diffuse condensations with blood hypereosinophilia. He was diagnosed to have eosinophilic lung and was placed on corticosteroid therapy but he did not show any improvement. A CT-guided biopsy showed lepidic adenocarcinoma.

Background: The optimal surgical strategy for lymph node dissection in lung adenocarcinoma remains controversial. Accurate predicting occult lymph node metastasis (OLNM) in patients with clinical T1 lung adenocarcinoma is essential for optimizing treatment decisions and improving patient outcomes. This study analyzes the relationship between anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) status, clinicopathological characteristics, computed tomography (CT) features, and OLNM in patients with clinical T1 lung adenocarcinoma.

Background: Guanylate-binding protein 1 (GBP1) is involved in the malignant progression of lung adenocarcinoma, particularly in the acquisition of invasive potential. However, its role in tumor proliferation and therapeutic viability in invasive lung adenocarcinomas remains unclear.

Methods: This study included 99 patients with invasive lung adenocarcinoma, excluding those with non-invasive lepidic components, who had undergone complete pulmonary resection.

Distinguishing MPLCs from IPMs using NGS-based molecular algorithms and histological assessment: A systematic review and validation study.

Distinguishing between multiple primary lung cancers and intrapulmonary metastases is crucial for staging, therapeutic planning, and prognosis. Traditional histological assessment provides a foundation for diagnosis, which can be limited when tumors showed identical or similar histological types. This systematic review and independent validation study aimed to evaluate the performance of next-generation sequencing (NGS)-based molecular algorithms alongside histological methods for the classification of multiple lung adenocarcinomas (MLAs).

Objectives: There is currently no consensus regarding the optimal site-specific postoperative follow-up duration for patients with completely resected non-small cell lung cancer. Long-term surveillance for recurrence may lead to psychological distress or economic burdens for patients. We aimed to propose an appropriate site-specific follow-up strategy for patients with non-small cell lung cancer based on 10-year follow-up data.

Background: Inflammatory pseudotumor of the spleen and lepidic adenocarcinoma of the lung are uncommon slow-growing malignancies that have not been previously reported to occur concurrently.

Case Presentation: We present the case of a 63-year-old Caucasian man who presented with a splenic inflammatory pseudotumor-like dendritic cell sarcoma and was found to have a concomitant invasive lepidic adenocarcinoma of the lung. The patient underwent laparoscopic splenectomy to address the splenic mass.
