Use the new eGFR equation (estimated glomerular filtration rate equation that incorporates both serum creatinine and serum cystatin C levels) to estimate the GFR for both Black and non-Black individuals because the equation has improved accuracy, minimizes differences in eGFR between race groups, and more accurately reflects chronic kidney disease (CKD) prognosis while eliminating the use of race in GFR estimating equations.

Although the effect of the pandemic was ubiquitous, it has been more extensively studied in urban areas, which leads to an underscoring of the burden of COVID-19 in rural US. Health disparities adversely affect children in rural communities, each of which is unique and requires interventions based on regional needs.

Conventional dark-tone paints absorb both visible light and near-infrared (NIR) wavelengths, posing a challenge for light detection and ranging (LiDAR) recognition in autonomous driving. To overcome this issue, various chemical and structural coating materials have been explored to selectively reflect NIR. In this study, we newly propose colloidal photonic crystals with a stopband in the NIR range, fabricated through the spontaneous formation of crystalline arrays of silica particles dispersed in a photocurable resin, as a potential solution.

Asking participants to Think Aloud is a common method for studying conscious experience, but it remains unclear whether this approach alters thought qualities-such as meta-awareness, rate of topic shifts, or the content of thoughts in task-absent conditions. To investigate this, we conducted two studies comparing thinking aloud to thinking silently. In Study 1, 111 participants alternated between 15-minute intervals of verbalizing and silently reflecting on their stream of consciousness in a counterbalanced design.

Background: Coronary artery disease (CAD) and acute myocardial infarction (AMI) still pose a significant burden to the health care system, affecting population subgroups differently.
Objectives: The purpose of the study was to describe age, sex, and racial disparities in mortality rates for CAD and AMI in the United States between 2000 and 2020.
Methods: This was an ecological study with trend analysis of mortality rates using data from the National Centers for Disease Control and Prevention surveillance databases.
