A miniature matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization linear time-of-flight mass spectrometer suitable for the high mass-to-charge (/) region is described. The instrument size is roughly 1/50th that of regular instruments, and detailed dimensions and experimental parameters were optimized based on the comprehensive calculation method to provide satisfactory mass resolving power. Observations showed that the performance is limited in the low / range and becomes comparable with that of regular instruments in the mid / range. In the high / range, the miniature instrument provides better mass resolving power and sensitivity than regular instruments, showing superior performance for microbial, protein conjugate, and polymer analyses.

Infrared array sensor-based fall detection and activity recognition systems have gained momentum as promising solutions for enhancing healthcare monitoring and safety in various environments. Unlike camera-based systems, which can be privacy-intrusive, IR array sensors offer a non-invasive, reliable approach for fall detection and activity recognition while preserving privacy. This work proposes a novel method to distinguish between normal motion and fall incidents by analyzing thermal patterns captured by infrared array sensors.

Flexible, wearable, piezoresistive sensors have significant potential for applications in wearable electronics and electronic skin fields due to their simple structure and durability. Highly sensitive, flexible, piezoresistive sensors with the ability to monitor laryngeal articulatory vibration supply a new, more comfortable and versatile way to aid communication for people with speech disorders. Here, we present a piezoresistive sensor with a novel microstructure that combines insulating and conductive properties.

VIRTUAL ENVIRONMENTS AND HUMAN ANATOMY LEARNING ACHIEVEMENTS IN UNIVERSITY STUDENTS.

Georgian Med News

November 2024

4Escuela de Medicina Humana. Universidad Privada San Juan Bautista, Ica, Perú.

Introduction: Virtual learning is characterized by the fact that the sender and the receiver are not present in the development of the learning sessions or in the same physical space; it can be synchronous or asynchronous. In certain subjects such as Human Anatomy, the teaching was face-to-face, which is why the question arose whether the virtual teaching of human anatomy was effective or ineffective.

Objective: To determine the relationship between virtual environments and learning achievements in the subject of human anatomy in students of a Peruvian university during the COVID-19 pandemic.

To evaluate the accuracy of home self-monitoring portable blood glucose meters, we analyzed the current problems of patients using portable blood glucose meters and put forward reasonable suggestions. A self-designed questionnaire was used to survey 142 patients and 132 healthcare professionals. The questionnaire consisted of 16 items with an overall score ranging from 1 to 13 (with a higher score indicating better experience).
