We report the case of a 68-year-old female patient who was referred to our hospital for a painless, immobile, hard and well-circumscribed nodule of the upper lip that had been present for a decade. Cheilitis granulomatosa, a rare condition in children, is marked by painless, sudden lip swelling, which can last for an extended period. Indian J Pathol Microbiol

Department of Pathology, IPGME and R, Kolkata, West Bengal, India.

Solitary small painless lower lip lesions are common and can be of variable etiologies, giving rise to a wide number of clinical and histopathological differentials. From a clinico-pathological perspective, the diagnostic differentials may vary from vascular malformation, basal cell carcinoma, epidermal cyst, traumatic neuroma, neurofibroma, schwannoma, neurilemmoma, skin adnexal tumor, to other mucosal neuromas. Here we are reporting one such rare case masquerading as mucocele in a patient aged 37 years who reported first time at the ENT outpatient department.

Melanoma is characterized by its aggressiveness, high metastatic potential, and numerous mutations, which limit the effectiveness of current treatments. To address this issue, we developed a dissolvable microneedle (MN) system composed of poly(2-ethyl-2-oxazoline) (PEtOz) and chondroitin sulfate (CS). This MN system was loaded with liposomes containing both a NIR-II photothermal small molecule (IRLy) and the natural anticancer agent Gambogic acid (GA), forming Lip(IRLy + GA) MNs.

Pulse oximetry at two sensor placement sites in conscious foals.

Acta Vet Scand

January 2025

Department of Equine and Small Animal Medicine, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Helsinki, Viikintie 49, 00014, Helsinki, Finland.

Background: Pulse oximetry has not been thoroughly evaluated for assessment of oxygenation in conscious foals. Compared with invasive arterial blood sampling, it is a painless and non-invasive method for real-time monitoring of blood oxygen saturation. The aim of this prospective clinical study was to evaluate the usability, validity, and reliability of pulse oximetry at two measuring sites (lip and caudal abdominal skin fold) for blood oxygen saturation measurement in conscious foals with and without respiratory compromise.
