The NAC transcription factors (TFs) play important roles in mediating abiotic stress tolerance; however, the mechanism is still not fully known. Here, an gene () from a gene regulatory network of (birch) that responded to drought was characterized. Overexpression and knockout of displayed increased and reduced drought tolerance, respectively, relative to wild-type (WT) birch.

Predicting the impact of new emerging virus mutations is of major interest in surveillance and for understanding the evolutionary forces of the pathogens. The SARS-CoV-2 surface spike-protein (S-protein) binds to human ACE2 receptors as a critical step in host cell infection. At the same time, S-protein binding to human antibodies neutralizes the virus and prevents interaction with ACE2.

Diffuse low-grade glioma (LGG) is a rare cerebral cancer, mostly involving young adults with an active life at diagnosis. If left untreated, LGG widely invades the brain and becomes malignant, generating neurological worsening and ultimately death. Early and repeat treatments for this incurable tumor, including maximal connectome-based surgical resection(s) in awake patients, enable postponement of malignant transformation while preserving quality of life owing to constant neural network reconfiguration.

Niche-specific genome degradation and convergent evolution shaping adaptation during severe infections.

During severe infections, moves from its colonising sites to blood and tissues and is exposed to new selective pressures, thus, potentially driving adaptive evolution. Previous studies have shown the key role of the locus in pathoadaptation; however, a more comprehensive characterisation of genetic signatures of bacterial adaptation may enable prediction of clinical outcomes and reveal new targets for treatment and prevention of these infections. Here, we measured adaptation using within-host evolution analysis of 2590 .
