This paper reports the complications and results after 80 trabeculotomies for open angle glaucoma, which were performed between 1971 and 1975 at the University Eye Clinic in Marburg. The longest follow-up period was between 1.5 and 2.0 years. Intraoperative complications included anterior chamber bleeding, synechias, and mild cataracts. In 2/3 of the operated eyes the intraocular pressure could be controlled without additional medication. Twenty-eight percent of the patients again required pressure-reducing drugs 1 year after trabeculotomy; 11% still remained hypertonic.

This research was designed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of ab-interno trabeculectomy (Trabectome and Kahook Dual Blade) combined with phacoemulsification, intraocular lens implantation, and goniosynechialysis in eyes with primary angle-closure glaucoma. A total of 47 patients were included in the study and all the patients received the combined surgery. Intraocular pressure, anti-glaucoma medications, best-corrected visual acuity, and the number of peripheral anterior synechiae quadrants were recorded at baseline and at various time points after surgery.

Purpose: To compare the clinical outcomes of Xen 45 gel stent implantation surgery (Ab externo, open conjunctiva) with those of trabeculectomy.
Method: We retrospectively reviewed electronic medical record of 57patients (62eyes) treated with Xen implantation surgery (ab externo, open conjunctiva approach) between April 1st, 2021 and July 31st, 2023 by the same surgeon. Preoperative clinical data including intraocular pressure, the number of glaucoma medications, visual acuity were collected from 1 day to 12 months postoperatively.
