Purpose: This study evaluates the effect of 6° horizontal gaze tolerance on visual field mean sensitivity (MS) in patients with glaucoma using a binocular head-mounted automated perimeter, following findings of structural changes in the posterior globe from magnetic resonance imaging and optical coherence tomography.

Methods: In this cross-sectional study, a total of 161 eyes (85 primary open-angle glaucoma [POAG] and 76 healthy) from 117 participants were included. Logistic regression and 1:1 matched analysis assessed the propensity score for glaucoma and healthy eyes, considering age, sex, and axial length as confounders.

Distinct Ocular Surface Microbiome in Keratoconus Patients Correlate With Local Immune Dysregulation.

Invest Ophthalmol Vis Sci

January 2025

GROW Research Laboratory, Narayana Netralaya Foundation, Bangalore, India.

Purpose: Keratoconus (KC) is characterized by irregular astigmatism along with corneal stromal weakness and is associated with altered immune status. Tissue resident microbiomes are known to influence the immune status in other organs, but such a nexus has not been described in ocular conditions. Therefore, we examined the ocular surface microbiome of patients with KC and correlated it to the immune cell and tear molecular factor profiles.

Introduction: Sleep disturbances are associated with Alzheimer's disease (AD) and Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (ADRD), but the relationship between sleep architecture, particularly rapid eye movement (REM) sleep, and AD/ADRD biomarkers remains unclear.

Methods: We enrolled 128 adults (64 with Alzheimer's disease, 41 with mild cognitive impairment [MCI], and 23 with normal cognition [NC]), mean age 70.8 ± 9.

Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of weekly adalimumab (ADA) treatment in non-infectious uveitis (NIU) patients, including both pediatric and adult populations, and identify factors influencing treatment efficacy.

Methods: A retrospective cohort study at two hospitals in Türkiye included 51 NIU patients (29 children, 22 adults) who escalated from bi-weekly to weekly ADA due to inadequate disease control. Data on six clinical parameters (anterior chamber reaction, vitreous haze, visual acuity, central macular thickness [CMT], prednisone use, uveitis flare-up frequency), adverse effects, and treatment-related factors were collected.

Study Objectives: Sleep deficiency is associated with Alzheimer's disease (AD) pathogenesis. We examined the association of sleep architecture with anatomical features observed in AD: (1) atrophy of hippocampus, entorhinal, inferior parietal, parahippocampal, precuneus, and cuneus regions ("AD-vulnerable regions") and (2) cerebral microbleeds.

Methods: In 271 participants of the Atherosclerosis Risk in the Communities Study, we examined the association of baseline sleep architecture with anatomical features identified on brain MRI 13∼17 years later.
