Introduction: After fixed orthodontic treatment, following bracket removal, the debonding procedure should lead to restitutio ad integrum of the enamel or, at least, restore the enamel surface as closely as possible to its pretreatment condition. Adhesion of brackets in orthodontics is that they should be strong enough to prevent failure during all treatment but also low enough, so that enamel damage would be minimal during bracket removal after treatment.

Material And Methods: A total of 60 premolars were collected and stored in distilled water. The extracted teeth were divided into two groups of 30 each, group A was to be bonded with self-cure adhesive while group B light cure adhesive was to be used. A standardised protocol was followed for adhering the brackets to the tooth surfaces. All the teeth were bonded with metal brackets (3M Unitek, Gemini Twin Brackets 0.022 slot). In group A, bonding adhesive (3M Unitek self cure adhesive primer) was applied. In group B, the bonding adhesive (3M Unitek light cure adhesive primer) was photopolymerized for 10 seconds after application.

Results: Surface roughness of enamel as assessed by profilometry shows that light cure adhesive creates more roughness as compared to self cure adhesive. To conclude, self cure adhesive is clinically better than light cure adhesive.

Discussion: In the present study enamel surface roughness were compared after debonding. Enamel surface roughness after bracket debonding depends on a host of factors, which include - brackets, adhesive used and method of remnant removal.

Despite remarkable advances in cancer treatment, most solid cancers remain difficult to cure. We recently developed an antibody-drug conjugate (ADC, 84-EBET) for pancreatic cancer by using the carcinoembryonic-antigen-related cell-adhesion molecule 6 (CEACAM6) antibody #84.7 and the bromodomain and extra-terminal (BET) protein degrader EBET.

Background And Purpose: Embolization is the first-line treatment for dural arteriovenous fistulas (dAVF). The precipitating hydrophobic injectable liquid (PHIL) embolic agent is a non-adhesive copolymer with specific features and endovascular behavior. This study assessed its safety and efficacy in a prospective real-life cohort.

Article Synopsis
  • The study evaluates the fracture strength of 1 mm-thick CAD/CAM occlusal veneers made from lithium disilicate (LD) and resin nanoceramics (RNC) to assess their viability in dental restoration.
  • Using a novel testing protocol, the RNC group demonstrated a significantly higher load-bearing capacity compared to the LD group, indicating better durability under stress.
  • Both materials experienced similar crack patterns during testing, emphasizing the importance of understanding mechanical properties for ensuring the longevity of dental restorations.

Department of Gastrocolorectal Surgery, General Surgery Center, The First Hospital of Jilin University, Changchun, Jilin, China.

Article Synopsis
  • The research introduces plantamajoside (PMS) as an innovative inhibitor of sortase A (SrtA), an enzyme crucial for the virulence of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), showcasing its potential in combating multi-drug resistant pathogens.
  • PMS effectively reduces MRSA's ability to adhere to surfaces and form biofilms, leading to increased survival rates in infected cell models and proving beneficial in animal models by lowering mortality rates and bacterial loads.
  • The findings emphasize the significance of targeting specific bacterial mechanisms, such as SrtA, to develop new therapeutic strategies against antibiotic-resistant infections, particularly MRSA.
