Objective: Class III malocclusion is characterized by a loss of vertical dimension associated with muscle imbalance. The present study was designed to determine electromyographic amplitude changes in temporal (T) and masseter (M) at rest and during clenching in Class III patients treated with an intraoral device (IOD) over a 24-hour period for 30 days with transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS).
Methods: Twelve patients with Class III (mean age 27.7 ± 1.2 years) were treated with TENS and IOD. Ten untreated patients composed the control group. Data were analyzed using Wilcoxon test and ANOVA.
Results: Patients treated with TENS and IOD showed a marked decrease in hyperactivity of M and T at rest ( = 0.001) and an increase during clenching ( = 0.001). The control group maintained similar activity in both positions.
Conclusion: This study confirms that using TENS and IOD in patients improves muscle activity of T and M.

Background: Sufentanil is commonly used to induce general anaesthesia due to its rapid onset of action, strong analgesic effect, long-lasting effect, and stable haemodynamics; however, it often induces cough, increasing the risk of anaesthesia. This study aimed to investigate the preventive effect of low-dose esketamine on sufentanil-induced cough.
Methods: This randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical study was conducted at the Air Force Medical Center between September 2023 and May 2024.

Introduction: In the present study, we evaluated the impact of empagliflozin on serum levels of oxidative stress parameters in individuals with type 2 diabetes (T2DM) who also suffer from heart failure with Reduced Ejection Fraction (HFrEF).
Methods: In this prospective, single-center clinical trial, 80 patients with T2DM and HFrEF, stabilized on guideline-directed heart failure therapy and classified as New York Heart Association functional (NYHA) functional classes II or III, were randomized to receive either empagliflozin (10 mg/daily) or a matching placebo for a duration of 12 weeks. Serum levels of malondialdehyde (MDA), along with the activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GPx), were measured at baseline and after the 12-week treatment period.

Background: Daratumumab-refractory multiple myeloma (Dara-R MM) presents a significant treatment challenge. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and survival outcomes of elotuzumab, pomalidomide, and dexamethasone (EloPd) in a large, real-world cohort of patients with Dara-R MM, with particular focus on progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS).
Materials And Methods: This retrospective analysis included 247 Dara-R MM patients treated with EloPd.

Background: One avenue to improve outcomes among brain tumor patients involves the mitigation of healthcare disparities. Investigating clinical differences among brain tumors across socioeconomic and demographic strata, such can aid in healthcare disparity identification and, by extension, outcome improvement.
Methods: Utilizing a racially diverse population from Hawaii, 323 cases of brain tumors (meningiomas, gliomas, schwannomas, pituitary adenomas, and metastases) were matched by age, sex, and race to 651 controls to investigate the associations between tumor type and various demographic, socioeconomic, and medical comorbidities.

Background: A comprehensive analysis of the occlusal plane (OP) inclination in predicting anteroposterior mandibular position (APMP) changes is still lacking. This study aimed to analyse the relationships between inclinations of different OPs and APMP metrics and explore the feasibility of OP inclination in predicting changes in APMP.
Methods: Overall, 115 three-dimensional (3D) models were reconstructed using deep learning-based cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) segmentation, and their accuracy in supporting cusps was compared with that of intraoral scanning models.
