To estimate the correlation between graft thickness as measured by anterior segment Optical Coherence Tomography and visual recovery after manual Descemet stripping endothelial keratoplasty. Prospective observational study. This prospective observational study included 25 patients with pseudophakic bullous keratopathy, who underwent DSEK. Visual acuity in LogMAR units and estimation of graft thickness measured by Anterior Segment Optical Coherence Tomography (AS-OCT) was carried out on postoperative day 1, 3rd month and 6th month. Correlation analysis was performed between graft thickness and postoperative visual acuity on postoperative day 1, 3rd month and 6th month. The mean LogMAR visual acuity improved in all patients post DSEK - 1.47 (±0.48) to 0.75 (±0.38) LogMAR units. The average postoperative day 1 central corneal thickness was 724.96 µm (±77.59 µm), which decreased to mean central corneal thickness of 655.56 (±61.08 µm) on 3rd month and 633.48 (58.72) by the 6th month. Mean donor graft thickness on postoperative day 1, 3rd month and 6th month in this study was found to be 169.3 µm (±36.6 µm), 135.9 µm (±29.8 µm) and 127.5 µm (±31 µm) corresponding to a BCVA of 1.94, 0.86 and 0.75 LogMAR units respectively. On correlation analysis, thinner grafts were found to be associated with better postoperative BCVA especially on the 3rd and 6th month follow-up period. This study found that a higher proportion of thinner grafts achieved better postoperative visual rehabilitation and earlier stabilization of visual acuity.

There is an urgent need for stable, plant-based Pickering foams to address the growing consumer demand for sustainable, low-calorie, aerated sweet foods. This study employed a cold plasma-assisted deamidation and glycosylation (CPDG) approach to promote hydrophilic reassembly of zein, resulting in the formation of sugar derivative-zein conjugates. This was accomplished by coupling deamidated zein with polyhydroxy sugars including sucralose (Suc), maltitol (Mal), mannitol (Man), and stevioside (Ste).

This clinical case report describes the reconstructive management of a child who developed a rare aggressive soft tissue infection - necrotizing fasciitis - complicating varicella skin lesions, with a synthetic dermal regenerative template - NovoSorb Biodegradable Temporizing Matrix - in conjunction with a split thickness meshed skin graft. The scarcity of this clinical case, the need to cover large skin defect promptly while facing infectious and pediatric challenges make it interesting to describe NovoSorb Biodegradable Temporizing Matrix in addition to split thickness meshed skin graft a novel treatment in necrotizing fasciitis of the child. A rapid surgical treatment followed by this reconstructive strategy achieved an acceptable functional and aesthetic result, with timely healing despite the severity and extensive surface area of the infection.

Keratinocyte carcinomas (KCs) are commonly located on the scalp and often treated with excision with peripheral and deep en face margin assessment (PDEMA), with Mohs micrographic surgery (MMS) being the most frequently used method. Resection of these malignancies results in wounds with a wide variety of sizes, ranging from small, sub-centimeter defects, to extensive, nearly complete scalp defects. MMS is often the preferred treatment for tumor resection and margin clearance, as it allows for maximal healthy tissue preservation and has the lowest recurrence rates.

: We treated deep partial-thickness burns of the hands and feet in four cases using a combination of NexoBrid and ReCell autologous cell regeneration techniques, without conventional split-thickness skin graft, with good results following debridement of the eschar. : We report cases of patients treated with a combination of the NexoBrid and ReCell techniques between 1 August 2023 and 31 July 2024. The degree of debridement and the time to complete wound closure were evaluated.

For pediatric patients with full-thickness burns, achieving adequate dermal regeneration is essential to prevent inelastic scars that may hinder growth. Traditional autologous split-thickness skin grafts alone often fail to restore the dermal layer adequately. This study evaluates the long-term effect of using a NovoSorb Biodegradable Temporizing Matrix (BTM) as a dermal scaffold in four pediatric patients, promoting dermal formation before autografting.
