Background: Mycotoxin, a secondary metabolite of fungus, found worldwide and concerning in crops and food, causing multiple acute and chronic toxicities. Its toxic profile includes hepatotoxicity, carcinogenicity, teratogenicity, estrogenicity, immunotoxicity, and neurotoxicity, leading to deleterious impact on human and animal health. Emerging evidence suggests that it adversely affects perinatal health, progeny by its ability to cross placental barriers.

Atypical mediastinal mass in the fetus: a review of the literature.

Arch Gynecol Obstet

January 2025

Department of Congenital Cardiac Surgery, IRCCS Policlinico San Donato, 20097, San Donato, Milan, Italy.

Objectives: Congenital thoracic masses (CTMs) are suspected in presence of solid or cystic thoracic lesions at ultrasound. The common typical fetal CTMs encompass: hyperechogenic lung lesions such as congenital pulmonary airway malformation (CPAM), broncopulmonary sequestration (PS) and congenital high airway obstruction syndrome (CHAOS); less common solid thoracic masses are mediastinal/pericardial tumors as rhabdomyoma and teratoma. The aim of our study is to gather the available evidence on cases of atypical CTMs of difficult classification, for which the diagnosis remains often uncertain.

Background: A number of clinical studies have shown a positive association between the maternal -3 PUFA status during pregnancy and fetal and newborn development and health. Despite this well-documented role of -3 PUFAs in pregnancy, data on maternal the LC-PUFAs status during pregnancy in the Indonesian population, to our knowledge, are not yet available. This study reports on the LC-PUFA dietary intake among pregnant women in a suburban population of Bogor City, West Java, Indonesia.

Role of Arg1 ILC2s and ILCregs in gestational diabetes progression.

Sci Rep

January 2025

Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Reproductive Medicine Center, The First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University, Wanshui Road No. 120, Hefei, 230000, Anhui, China.

Innate lymphoid cells (ILCs) are a newly discovered subset of immune cells that are responsible for regulation of the immune microenvironment. In particular, the ILC categories ILC2s and regulatory ILCs (ILCregs) are associated with immunosuppression and chronic inflammation. Chronic low-grade inflammation leads to insulin resistance, a major etiological factor in gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM).

Objective: This is a case report of a COL4A1 gene mutation which was confirmed by further genetic testing following anomalies observed in prenatal ultrasound and fetal brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

Case Reports: The ultrasound examination of the patient revealed a mass in fetal left intracranial cavity. Repeated subsequent MRI detected an evolving mass in the left frontal parietal lobe.
