Objective: The utility of lateral neck X-rays is unclear in pediatric otolaryngology. Past research showed that lateral neck X-ray did not change treatment decisions for children with suspected foreign body aspiration. This study examines the utility of lateral neck X-ray for patients also receiving otolaryngology consults for any indication.

Neutrophils, the most abundant circulating leukocytes, have long been recognized as key players in innate immunity and inflammation. However, recent discoveries unveil their remarkable heterogeneity and plasticity, challenging the traditional view of neutrophils as a homogeneous population with a limited functional repertoire. Advances in single-cell technologies and functional assays have revealed distinct neutrophil subsets with diverse phenotypes and functions and their ability to adapt to microenvironmental cues.

This study used integrative omics to address the response of key elements of the grapevine holobiont to contrasted pedoclimatic conditions found in distinct subregions of Douro Valley (Portugal). A metabolic OPLS-DA model predicted with 100 % accuracy the geographic origin of berries; higher UV radiation, higher temperature and lower precipitation stimulated the accumulation of phenolic acids, flavonols and malvidin conjugates, in detriment of amino acids, organic acids, flavan-3-ols, proanthocyanidins and non-malvidin anthocyanins. Metabarcoding showed a trade-off between bacteria and fungal diversity among subregions, with , and acting as intraregional microbial markers.

Cancer Stem Cells (CSCs) play an important role in the development, resistance, and recurrence of many malignancies. These subpopulations of tumor cells have the potential to self-renew, differentiate, and resist conventional therapy, highlighting their importance in cancer etiology. This review explores the regulatory mechanisms of CSCs in breast, cervical, and lung cancers, highlighting their plasticity, self-renewal, and differentiation capabilities.

Background And Purpose: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) patients display genetic polymorphisms in toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) genes, contributing to dysregulate enteric nervous system (ENS) circuits with increased levels of 5-HT and alteration of the neuroimmune crosstalk. In this study, we investigated the impact of TLR4 signalling on mouse ENS dysfunction caused by dextran sulphate sodium (DSS)-induced ileitis.
Experimental Approach: Male C57BL/6J (wild-type [WT]) and TLR4 mice (10 ± 2 weeks old) received 2% DSS in drinking water for 5 days and then were switched to 3-day regular drinking water.
