Background: The lack of predictive biomarkers contributes notably to the poor outcomes of patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) are the key components of the prominent PDAC stroma. Data on clinical relevance of CAFs entering the bloodstream, known as circulating CAFs (cCAFs) are scarce.

Background: Lifetime treatment of aortic valve disease is a matter of increasing debate. Although the risks of a second aortic valve intervention are recognized, little attention has been given to the challenges of a third.

Objectives: This study delves into the clinical characteristics, indications, and outcomes of patients undergoing 3 aortic valve interventions.

Patient-reported health status is an important assessment of patients with heart failure, but current approaches have substantial methodological and analytical limitations. Changes in the Kansas City Cardiomyopathy Questionnaire (KCCQ) are commonly presented as a measure of the effect of drugs and devices, most often as the between-group difference in population means or as the odds of showing threshold changes of 5, 10, 15, and 20 points. However, the presentation of mean differences is based on statistical assumptions that are routinely violated in most trials.

Professional Master Program in Artificial Intelligence in Medicine, College of Medicine, Taipei Medical University, Taipei, Taiwan; Clinical Big Data Research Center, Taipei Medical University Hospital, Taipei Medical University, Taipei, Taiwan. Electronic address:

Purpose: This study assessed the performance of various deep learning models in predicting the postoperative outcomes of idiopathic epiretinal membrane (ERM) surgery based on preoperative optical coherence tomography (OCT) images.

Design: Validation of algorithms to predict the outcomes of ERM surgery based on OCT data.

Methods: Internal training and validation were performed using 1,392 OCT images from 696 eyes.

Background: An accurate knowledge of a patient's risk of cord-level intraoperative neuromonitoring (IONM) data loss is important for an informed decision-making process prior to deformity correction, but no prediction tool currently exists.

Methods: A total of 1,106 patients with spinal deformity and 205 perioperative variables were included. A stepwise machine-learning (ML) approach using random forest (RF) analysis and multivariable logistic regression was performed.
