Purpose: To determine the prevalence and factors associated with computer vision syndrome in medical students at a private university in Paraguay.
Methods: A survey study was conducted in 2021 in a sample of 228 medical students from the Universidad del Pacífico, Paraguay. The dependent variable was CVS, measured with the Computer Visual Syndrome Questionnaire (CVS-Q). Its association with covariates (hours of daily use of notebook, smartphone, tablet and PC, taking breaks when using equipment, use of preventive visual measures, use of glasses, etc.) was examined.
Results: The mean age was 22.3 years and 71.5% were women. CVS was present in 82.5% of participants. Higher prevalence of CVS was associated with wearing a framed lens (PR = 1.11, 95% CI: 1.03-1.20). In contrast, taking a break when using electronic equipment at least every 20 min and every 1 h reduced 7% (PR = 0.93, 95% CI: 0.87-0.99) and 6% (PR = 0.94, 95% CI: 0.89-0.99) the prevalence of CVS, respectively.
Conclusion: Eight out of 10 students experienced CVS during the COVID-19 pandemic. The use of framed lenses increased the presence of CVS, while taking breaks when using electronic equipment at least every 20 min and every 1 h reduced CVS.

Alternatives to nonbiodegradable synthetic plastics for food packaging include films made from biopolymers that are nontoxic and environment-friendly. In this study, carnauba wax (CW) and nitrogen-doped graphene quantum dots (NG) as functional additives were utilized in the production of pectin/gelatin (PG) film. NG was synthesized through the microwave method, using acetic acid as the carbon source, giving size, and zeta potential of 1.

Background: Total intravenous anesthesia (TIVA)-based and volatile-based general anesthesia have different effects on cerebral hemodynamics. The current work compares these 2 regimens in acute ischemic stroke patients undergoing endovascular therapy.
Methods: We conducted a systematic literature search across MEDLINE, Embase, Cochrane, CINAHL, Web of Science, and Scopus.

Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is the most common type of lung cancer, often linked to overexpression or abnormal activation of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR). The issue of developing resistance to third-generation EGFR kinase inhibitors, such as osimertinib, underscores the urgent need for new therapies to overcome this resistance. Our findings revealed that compound A8 exhibits 88.

The aims of this study were to investigate the prevalence of cryofibrinogenemia in a cohort of patients with systemic sclerosis (SSc) regardless of clinical manifestations, who were admitted to our hospital and determine the associations among CF positivity, disease features and ongoing therapies. This was a monocentric and retrospective study. The inclusion criteria were a diagnosis of SSc (according to the ACR/EULAR 2013 classification criteria), regular administration of i.

Objectives: To assess changes in body mass index (BMI), diet and physical activity (PA) of 8-15-y-old children with overweight/ obesity, following a smartphone applications-based intervention; and to understand facilitators and barriers for BMI reduction.
Methods: Children were enrolled through online sessions on childhood obesity for students, parents and teachers at five private schools in Delhi, and requesting parents who perceived their children as having obesity to contact the study team. Eligibility was confirmed through home visit by a technician.
