A cytological classification of dysplasia, intraepithelial and invasive cancer of the cervix uteri is suggested. Cytologic criteria for differential diagnosis are discussed. Cytologic diagnosis of precancer and cancer made on the basis of the said classification was verified in 63.5 and 97.3%, respectively.

This study explores the effects of plant compounds on human papillomavirus (HPV)-induced W12 cervical precancer cells and bioelectric signaling. The aim is to identify effective phytochemicals, both individually and in combination, that can prevent and treat HPV infection and HPV associated cervical cancer. Phytochemicals were tested using growth inhibition, combination, gene expression, RT PCR, and molecular docking assays.

Background/objectives: Oral cancers in patients with proliferative verrucous leukoplakia (PVL-OSCC) exhibit different clinical and prognostic outcomes from those seen in conventional oral squamous cell carcinomas (cOSSCs). The aim of the present study is to compare the genome-wide DNA methylation signatures in fresh frozen tissues between oral squamous cell carcinomas in patients with PVL and cOSCC using the Illumina Infinium MethylationEPIC BeadChip.
Methods: This case-control study was carried out at the Stomatology and Maxillofacial Surgery Department of the General University Hospital of Valencia.

Cervical cancer, while preventable through screening and treatment of cervical precancer, remains a global challenge with a disproportionately high burden of disease in resource-limited settings, especially in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Lack of affordable, easy-to-use screening and diagnostic tests contributes to this disparity. Most commercially available tests are not appropriate for use in LMICs due to resource constraints.

Nitric oxide (NO) is a small, short-lived gas molecule that influences various critical functions in living organisms. It involves multiple physiological processes, including cardiovascular function, metabolism, neurotransmission, immunity, and aberrant NO signaling leads to various disorders such as cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and cancers. In this study, we explored the potential application of copper-nitrite complexes in treating oral precancer and cancer.

Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a major global health issue and is recognized as the leading cause of cervical cancer. While prophylactic vaccination programs have led to substantial reductions in both HPV infection rates and cervical cancer incidence, considerable burdens of HPV-related diseases persist, particularly in developing countries with inadequate vaccine coverage and uptake. The development of therapeutic vaccines for HPV represents an emerging strategy that has the potential to bolster the fight against cervical cancer.
