Nanostructured copper selenide (Cu Se) attracts much interest as it shows outstanding performance as thermoelectric, photo-thermal, and optical material. The mesoporous structure is also a promising morphology to obtain better performance for electrochemical and catalytic applications, thanks to its high surface area. A simple one-step electrochemical method is proposed for mesoporous chalcogenides synthesis. The synthesized Cu Se material has two types of mesopores (9 and 18 nm in diameter), which are uniformly distributed inside the flakes. These materials are also implemented for sodium (Na) ion battery (NIB) anode as a proof of concept. The electrode employing the mesoporous Cu Se exhibits superior and more stable specific capacity as a NIB anode compared to the non-porous samples. The electrode also exhibits excellent rate tolerance at each current density, from 100 to 1000 mA g . It is suggested that the mesoporous structure is advantageous for the insertion of Na ions inside the flakes. Electrochemical analysis indicates that the mesoporous electrode possesses more prominent diffusion-controlled kinetics during the sodiation-desodiation process, which contributes to the improvement of Na-ion storage performance.

Catalytic species such as molecular catalysts and metal catalysts are commonly attached to varieties of supports to simplify their separation and recovery and accommodate various reaction conditions. The physicochemical microenvironments surrounding catalytic species play an important role in catalytic performance, and the rational design and engineering of microenvironments can achieve more efficient chemical synthesis, leading to greener and more sustainable catalysis. In this review, we highlight recent works addressing the topic of the design and engineering of microenvironments of supported catalysts, including supported molecular catalysts and supported metal catalysts.

Purpose: Nanoparticles are highly efficient vectors for ferrying contrast agents across cell membranes, enabling ultra-sensitive in vivo tracking of single cells with positron emission tomography (PET). However, this approach must be fully characterized and understood before it can be reliably implemented for routine applications.
Methods: We developed a Langmuir adsorption model that accurately describes the process of labeling mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNP) with Ga.

Bimetallic (Ta/Ti, V, Co, Nb) mesoporous MCM-41 nanoparticles were obtained by direct synthesis and hydrothermal treatment. The obtained mesoporous materials were characterized by XRD, XRF, N adsorption/desorption, SEM, TEM, XPS, Raman, UV-Vis, and PL spectroscopy. A more significant effect was observed on the mesoporous structure, typically for MCM-41, and on optic properties if the second metal (Ti, Co) did not belong to the same Vb group with Ta as V and Nb.

Developing highly active and durable non-noble metal catalysts is crucial for energy conversion and storage, especially for proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) and lithium-oxygen (Li-O) batteries. Non-noble metal catalysts are considered the greatest potential candidates to replace noble metal catalysts in PEMFCs and Li-O batteries. Herein, we propose a novel type of non-noble metal catalyst (Fe-Hf/N/C) doped with Hf into a mesoporous carbon material derived from Hf-ZIF-8 and co-doping with Fe and N, which greatly enhanced the activity and durability of the catalyst.

Sildenafil is used to treat erectile dysfunction and pulmonary arterial hypertension but is often illicitly added to energy drinks and chocolates. This study introduces a lateral flow strip test using aptamers specific to sildenafil for detecting its illegal presence in food. The process involved using graphene oxide SELEX to identify high-affinity aptamers, which were then converted into molecular gate structures on mesoporous silica nanoparticles, creating a unique signaling system.
