Aortic dissection is the most common thoracic aortic emergency and is associated with significant morbidity and mortality. Initial complications are dependent on reduction of sheer stress against the aortic wall to protect against rupture and minimize progression of the aortic wall injury. In patients with dissection starting at or distal to the left subclavian artery (Stanford type B), initial management includes strict blood pressure and heart rate control with monitoring for any complications such as malperfusion, rupture or hemodynamic instability.

Atherosclerosis and aneurysm of the aorta are relatively common pathological conditions that remain asymptomatic for a long period of time and have life-threatening and disabling complications. DNA methylation profiling in several regions (a dilated area, a nondilated area, and an atherosclerotic plaque) of the ascending aorta was carried out in patients with aortic aneurysm. DNA methylation was analyzed by reduced representation bisulfite sequencing (RRBS).

Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) is a promising anti-aging molecule that plays a role in cellular energy metabolism and maintains redox homeostasis. Additionally, NAD is involved in regulating deacetylases, DNA repair enzymes, inflammation, and epigenetics, making it indispensable in maintaining the basic functions of cells. Research on NAD has become a hotspot, particularly regarding its potential in cardiovascular disease (CVD).

Objective: Dolichoectatic vertebrobasilar aneurysms (DVBAs) are expansions of arterial tissue leading to aneurysmal formations without an obvious neck. Their natural history is poorly understood; usually patients are admitted with thromboembolic complications and/or neurological symptoms from the mass effect. There have not been international collective data, and correct timing for highly risky treatments has been under discussion.

Rationale: Pseudoaneurysm is a potential postoperative complication in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery, with catheter-based interventions being the first-line treatment. This study reviews the literature on potential secondary complications following arterial embolization. Additionally, we report a case in which a dislodged embolization coil acted as a nidus for bile duct stone formation, leading to recurrent cholangitis.
