Cisplatin is a cytotoxic chemotherapeutic drug that leads to DNA damage and is used in the treatment of various types of tumors. However, cisplatin has several serious adverse effects, such as deterioration in cognitive ability. The aim of our work was to study neuroprotectors capable of preventing cisplatin-induced neurotoxicity. Methylene blue (MB) and AzurB (AzB) are able to neutralize the neurotoxicity caused by cisplatin by protecting nerve cells as a result of the activation of the Ntf2 signaling pathway. We have shown that cisplatin impairs learning in the Morris water maze. This is due to an increase in the amount of mtDNA damage, a decrease in the expression of most antioxidant genes, the main determinant of the induction of which is the Nrf2/ARE signaling pathway, and genes involved in mitophagy regulation in the cortex. The expression of genes involved in long-term potentiation was suppressed in the hippocampus of cisplatin-injected mice. MB in most cases prevented cisplatin-induced impairment of learning and decrease of gene expression in the cortex. AzB prevented the cisplatin-induced decrease of genes in the hippocampus. Also, cisplatin induced disbalance in the gut microbiome, decreased levels of and , and increased levels of and . MB and AzB also prevented cisplatin-induced changes in the bacterial composition of the gut microbiome.

Cisplatin (CP) is an antineoplastic drug associated with various cytotoxic adverse effects, including hepatotoxicity. Exercise training may offer hepatoprotection by improving redox status. This study compared the effects of light-intensity continuous training (LICT), moderate-intensity continuous training (MICT), and high-intensity interval training (HIIT) on CP-induced hepatotoxicity in female Wistar rats.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Cisplatin (CP), a widely used antineoplastic agent, is a leading cause of drug-induced liver injury (DILI) due to its hepatotoxic effects. Licorice (GC), an established remedy in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), has shown promise in addressing liver diseases and DILI. Nonetheless, the specific active components and underlying mechanisms of GC in mitigating CP-induced liver injury remain inadequately investigated.

Purpose: To investigate whether tadalafil (TAD) and N-acetyl cysteine (NAC) can prevent cisplatin (CIS)-induced testicular toxicity.
Methods: Forty Wistar-Albino rats were divided into five groups: Control group, CIS group, TAD group, NAC group and TAD + NAC group. All groups were compared regarding body and testicular weights, testicular volumes, blood testosterone levels, testicular tissue malondialdehyde (MDA) levels, histopathological features, and testicular Cosentino and Johnsen scores.

Cancer-related cognitive impairment (CRCI) is prevalent among cancer patients. A critical disparity in the CRCI field is that most pre-clinical studies have been conducted on young cancer-free male rodents, although CRCI predominantly affects breast cancer and ovarian cancer women survivors. Since oxidative stress is widely implicated in the development of CRCI, we developed an ovarian cancer xenograft rat model of CRCI in Cr:NIH-RNU female rats to examine whether administration of the antioxidant N-acetylcysteine (NAC) prevents cisplatin-induced CRCI without altering its anti-cancer efficacy.

Despite being one of the most frequently used chemotherapy agents, cisplatin exhibits substantial hepatorenal injury by triggering oxidative stress, inflammation, and apoptosis pathways. The current investigation studied the possible protective effects of calcitriol on cisplatin-induced hepatorenal toxicity. Mice were divided randomly as follows: control group, calcitriol group (received calcitriol 5 µg/kg, p.
