In this paper, the potential of directional ultrasonic wave superposition by moving sound generators for laser beam welding of high-strength steel alloys 1.5528 (22MnB5) is studied. Steel sheets of identical thickness and in form of tailored blanks were joined in butt joint configuration. The influences of the various excitation parameters of the moving sound generators on the ultrasonic coupling and their influence on the distribution of the AlSi coating components within the melting zone and the weld seam characteristics are investigated. Etched cross-sections, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, and electron backscattering measurements were used as the investigation methods to determine the AlSi distribution in the weld as well as its microstructure. The results presented a series of experiments which show that a suitable superposition of ultrasonic waves by the moving sound generators lead to a more homogeneous distribution of AlSi particles in the melt as well as to a finer microstructure within the weld, which improves the mechanical-technological properties.

Honey bees usually produce particular sound when they are exposed to air pollution. Based on this principle, we create a citizen science platform to monitor Agricultural Nonpoint Source Pollution (ANSP) based on beehive sounds. Here we show the basic functions of the platform, and illustrate its workflow: sampling and uploading data by beekeepers, automated detection of target compounds from beehive sound recordings, and the outcome of which can be analysed with respect to the motivating management objective.

We investigated how people with unilateral vestibular hypofunction and healthy controls incorporated broadband and real-recorded sounds with visual load for balance in an immersive contextual scene.
Design: Participants stood on foam placed on a force-platform, wore the HTC Vive headset, and observed an immersive subway environment.

Due to the limited size of the quiet zone created by active headrests (AHR) near the human ear, noise reduction (NR) at the human ear decreases dramatically when the head moves. Combined with a head tracking system can improve the NR performance when the head moves, but most such studies currently only consider head translation. Objectives: Due to the limited effectiveness of pharmacological treatment, there is a growing need to explore non-pharmacological psychosocial interventions such as music therapy when treating the behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD).
Method: We randomised 57 nursing home residents into individual active music therapy plus standard care (aMT), individual receptive music therapy with tactile sound vibration plus standard care (rMT), or the standard care control group (CG). A trained music therapist provided 12 sessions over 6 weeks.
