Although the clinical assessment of enamel thickness is important, hardly any tools exist for accurate measurements. The purpose of this study was to verify the precision of enamel thickness measurements using swept-source optical coherence tomography (SS-OCT). Human extracted maxillary central and lateral incisors were used as specimens. Twenty-eight sites were measured in each specimen. The optical path length (OPL) at each measurement site was measured on the OCT images, and enamel thickness () was calculated by dividing OPL by the mean refractive index of enamel, 1.63. The specimens were then sectioned, and a light microscope was used to measure enamel thickness (). and were then compared. Measurement errors between and for the central and lateral incisors were 0.04 (0.02; 0.06) mm and 0.04 (0.02; 0.07) mm [median value: (25%, 75% percentile)], respectively. No significant differences between measurement sites were noted for measurement errors between and . These results demonstrate that OCT can be used for noninvasive, accurate measurements of enamel thickness.

Objectives: This study aimed to assess the impact of incorporating glass ionomer fillers of varying sizes on fluoride release, antiplaque properties, and the abrasive effects of toothpaste.
Materials And Methods: In this laboratory study, three toothpaste samples containing glass ionomer filler particles (0.5, 5 µm, and a hybrid combination of equal proportions of both fillers) were tested, along with a base toothpaste without fillers or fluoride and a commercial toothpaste (Colgate Total) as controls.

Outdoor stone relics, including inscriptions, statues, temple grottoes, etc., are continuously subjected to natural weathering and air pollutants. Those made of marbles and other carbonate rocks are particularly vulnerable to acid rains, which can be protected by acid-resistant coatings.

Objectives: To evaluate the clinical applicability of nano silver fluoride sustained release orthodontic elastomerics (NSF-RE) by investigating its effects on inhibiting biofilm formation and enamel demineralization using dental microcosm biofilms.
Methods: Two types of 23 % NSF coating solutions were prepared depending on the presence or absence of the plasticizer (polyethylene glycol [PEG] 6000: NSF-EP and NSF-E); the elastomerics were dip-coated individually with these. Biofilms were allowed to form on bovine enamel specimens with the elastomerics.

Objectives: The aims of this study were to (1) estimate the mesial and distal proximal enamel thickness available (PETa), (2) estimate the proximal enamel thickness remaining (PETr) on the basis of planned IPR, and (3) assess PETr-associated risks with varying IPR amounts.
Materials And Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted using CBCT scans. PETa was estimated using on-demand software.

The etiology of developmental defects of enamel (DDE) remains incompletely understood. Prenatal alcohol exposure has been proposed as a potential risk factor for DDE. Animal studies suggest that in utero ethanol exposure can disrupt ameloblast function, leading to enamel abnormalities.
