A new rapid and accurate method was developed for simultaneous determination of pyridoxine and pyridoxal in ginkgo seeds, using ultra-performance liquid chromatography (UPLC) equipped with a fluorescence detector. Diluted hydrochloric acid solution was used as the extracting solvent. For the pretreatment of extracts, a zeolitic imidazolate framework material (ZIF-8) was prepared and characterized. An ODS-BP column (4.6 mm × 250 mm × 5 μm) was used for separation. The conditions of sample extraction, cleaning and separation were optimized. The linear correlation coefficient (R) of the analyte was better than 0.9999, indicating good linearity. The limits of detection (LODs) of pyridoxal and pyridoxine were 0.0065 mg/kg and 0.0057 mg/kg, respectively, and limits of quantitation (LOQs) were 0.022 mg/kg and 0.019 mg/kg, respectively. The recovery of the two substances ranged from 86.2% to 110.4%, and the relative standard deviation (n = 6) was less than 7.5%. The method was applied to determine the contents of pyridoxine and pyridoxal in actual ginkgo seed samples with satisfactory results.

Background: Pyridoxamine 5'-phosphate oxidase deficiency is a rare inborn error of vitamin B metabolism that presents with drug-resistant epileptic seizures. However, the condition is responsive to supplementation with the active vitamin B metabolite pyridoxal 5'-phosphate and, in some cases, pyridoxine.
Case Presentation: In this case report, a 10-year-old Iranian male of Fars ethnicity came to a regional hospital in Tehran, Iran with a chief complaint of tic-like movement.

Unlabelled: Gas fermentation using acetogenic bacteria requires a chemically defined minimal medium to be established. This approach not only helps in creating a cost-effective medium but also allows for a thorough exploration of their metabolic potential. In this study, the auxotrophy of the acetogen sp.

We describe a novel algorithm, 'LPEM', that given a steady-state flux vector from a (possibly genome-scale) metabolic model, decomposes that vector into a set of weighted elementary modes such that the sum of these elementary modes is equal to the original flux vector. We apply the algorithm to a genome scale metabolic model of the human pathogen Campylobacter jejuni. This organism is unusual in that it has an absolute growth requirement for oxygen, despite being able to operate the electron transport chain anaerobically.

Background: Mare milk has often been considered a food product with potential functional properties. However, the bioactive compound composition of mare milk, including vitamins and other minor bioactive compounds, as well as factors affecting this composition have scarcely been studied. Therefore, the present study aimed to characterize the changes during lactation in the content of water- and fat-soluble vitamins and total polyphenols, and the total antioxidant capacity of mare milk from semi-extensive farms.
