Vitrimers are 3D "covalent adaptable networks" (CANs) with flow properties thanks to thermally activated associative exchange reactions. This contribution introduces coordination adaptable networks, or CooANs, that are topologically related to metal-organic frameworks with octahedral Zr clusters as secondary building units in a carboxylic acid-functionalized acrylate-methacrylate copolymer matrix. A series of Zr-CooAN-x materials (x=percent of Zr loading relative to maximum capacity) was synthesized with x=5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 50 and 100. The mechanical and rheological investigations demonstrate vitrimer-like properties for x up to 50, the crosslink migration being ensured by carboxylate ligand exchange, with relaxation becoming slower as the Zr content is increased. The flow activation energy of Zr-CooAN-10 is 92.9±3.6 kJ mol . Rapid (30 min) hot-press reshaping occurs at temperatures in the 50-100 °C range under a 3-ton pressure and does not significantly alter the material properties.

Nutritional Strategies for Enhancing Performance and Training Adaptation in Weightlifters.

Int J Mol Sci

December 2024

Institute of Health & Environment, Seoul National University, Seoul 08826, Republic of Korea.

Weightlifting demands explosive power and neuromuscular coordination in brief, repeated intervals. These physiological demands underscore the critical role of nutrition, not only in optimizing performance during competitions but also in supporting athletes' rigorous training adaptations and ensuring effective recovery between sessions. As weightlifters strive to enhance their performance, well-structured nutritional strategies are indispensable.

Leaf Phosphorus Fractions Are Coordinated with Leaf Functional Traits in Four Juvenile Tree Species from the Chinese Subtropics.

Plants (Basel)

December 2024

Phosphorus (P) is essential for cellular processes, and P fractions within leaf tissues reflect distinct biochemical functions. However, the relationship among foliar P allocation, leaf functional traits, and soil properties in subtropical China remains poorly understood. Here, we investigated four tree species to examine the relationships among foliar P fractions (orthophosphate P, metabolic P, nucleic acid P, lipid P, and residual P), key leaf functional traits (LMA, A, and leaf [N], and P concentrations), and soil properties.

Immediate and prolonged effects of different exercise intensities on the regularity of joint and coordinative patterns in runners.

J Biomech

Graduate Program of Rehabilitation Sciences, Department of Physical Therapy, Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, Belo Horizonte, 31270-901, Brazil. Electronic address:

Article Synopsis
  • Runners who don't allow enough recovery time after training may be at a higher risk for injuries due to fatigue and altered movement patterns.
  • A study looked at how different running intensities affect lower-limb joint movements and coordination during a single-leg squat in 30 healthy runners.
  • Immediate and longer-term changes showed that coordination patterns became less adaptive (more regular) after moderate and high-intensity runs, but traditional kinematic analysis did not effectively capture these changes.

Cpeb1 remodels cell type-specific translational program to promote fear extinction.

Sci Adv

Protein translation is crucial for fear extinction, a process vital for adaptive behavior and mental health, yet the underlying cell-specific mechanisms remain elusive. Using a Tet-On 3G genetic approach, we achieved precise temporal control over protein translation in the infralimbic medial prefrontal cortex () during fear extinction. In addition, our results reveal that the disruption of cytoplasmic polyadenylation element binding protein 1 (Cpeb1) leads to notable alterations in cell type-specific translational programs, thereby affecting fear extinction.
