Background: Long-acting injectable (LAI) antiretroviral medications are as effective as daily oral antiretroviral therapy (ART) and offer discreet, less frequent dosing. LAIs may be ideal treatment options for people who experience challenges with adherence to daily oral ART, including mobile men living with HIV (MLHIV).
Methods: We conducted a qualitative substudy within two parent trials in 24 health facilities in Malawi that enrolled MLHIV ≥15 years not on ART.

The new Cabotegravir + Rilpivirine long acting (CAB + RPV) is the injectable regimen for treatment-experienced people with HIV (PWH). Little data from real-world settings are available, particularly in more complex PWH. We aimed to investigate the effectiveness of CAB + RPV in our real-life cohort of experienced PWH.

Background: In 2023, there were 39.9 million people living with HIV (PLWH) worldwide and 630 000 deaths related to HIV. New strategies are needed, and long-acting antiretrovirals (LAAs) are now widely considered to have great potential to help end the HIV epidemic.

Data on the HIV care cascade demonstrated challenges in achieving Ending the HIV Epidemic (EHE) targets across all 18 EHE focus metropolitan areas, but innovative adherence interventions using point-of-care tenofovir testing and motivational interviewing support care cascade outcomes in Namibia and South Africa, respectively. Data on treatment with long-acting injectable (LAI) antiretroviral therapy (ART) demonstrated high acceptability, retention, and virologic suppression including in groups that were not well represented in clinical trials including persons born female and persons with detectable viral loads. The adjuvanted hepatitis B vaccine appeared to be safe and appeared to be superior to conventional hepatitis B vaccines in persons with HIV (PWH) who were prior nonresponders to the hepatitis B vaccine.

Objetive: To identify and analyze the resources and costs associated with the administration of intramuscular antiretroviral therapy (ART) cabotegravir+rilpivirine (CAB+RPV) compared to oral ART in the management of Human Immunodeficiency Virus Type 1 (HIV-1) infection in Spain.
Methods: An economic model was developed to identify resources and analyze costs from the perspective of the National Health System (NHS) and societal, associated with the administration of intramuscular ART (CAB+RPV) compared to oral ART over a two-year time horizon. Costs included treatment change monitoring, pharmaceutical dispensation, administration, management of adverse events to injection-site reactions (AEs-ISR), travel to the hospital, telepharmacy service, and lost work productivity.
