As the field of educational neuroscience continues to grow, questions have emerged regarding the ecological validity and applicability of this research to educational practice. Recent advances in mobile neuroimaging technologies have made it possible to conduct neuroscientific studies directly in naturalistic learning environments. We propose that embedding mobile neuroimaging research in a cycle (Matusz, Dikker, Huth, & Perrodin, 2019), involving lab-based, seminaturalistic, and fully naturalistic experiments, is well suited for addressing educational questions. With this review, we take a cautious approach, by discussing the valuable insights that can be gained from mobile neuroimaging technology, including electroencephalography and functional near-infrared spectroscopy, as well as the challenges posed by bringing neuroscientific methods into the classroom. Research paradigms used alongside mobile neuroimaging technology vary considerably. To illustrate this point, studies are discussed with increasingly naturalistic designs. We conclude with several ethical considerations that should be taken into account in this unique area of research.

The photon-counting detector computed tomography (PCD-CT) is a promising new technology that provides more spectral information in medical imaging. PCD-CT enables bedside imaging in the neuro intensive care unit (neuro ICU) for patients with life-threatening conditions such as brain hemorrhage and ischemic stroke. The primary purpose of this study is to evaluate a multi-material decomposition algorithm available on PCD-CT, dubbed MD Plus, to differentiate between contrast agent and hemorrhage in hyperdense lesions.

Multiple dehiscences of the otic capsule can exhibit behavior similar to Ménière's disease, not only from a clinical perspective but also in the results of audiovestibular tests. The main objective of this study is to characterize third mobile window etiologies from an audiovestibular perspective, while also evaluating the therapeutic response to four different treatment protocols. Furthermore, we aim to explore a potential association with the development of radiologically defined endolymphatic hydrops (EH).

Neuroscientists in decision science have advanced an affect-integration-motivation (AIM) framework, demonstrating that neural activity associated with positive affect or value integration can predict individual and aggregate choice. Given that individuals with higher interoceptive sensibility (IS) have tendency to engage their bodily sensations and thus exhibit a more coherent pattern between their neural, affective, and behavioral measures, we investigated how IS may interact with the affective/integrative components for predicting individual and aggregate choice. Thus, we 1) explored neural underpinnings of individual choice, affective ratings, aggregate outcomes, 2) examined how the above-mentioned measures predict individual and aggregate choices on mobile games, and 3) tested the moderation effect of IS by comparing the differences in how these measures perform in prediction models between subgroups of IS.

Background: The Finnish Geriatric Intervention Study to Prevent Cognitive Impairment and Disability (FINGER) multimodal lifestyle intervention yielded cognitive and other health benefits in older adults at risk of cognitive decline. The two-year multinational randomized controlled LETHE trial evaluates the feasibility of a digitally supported, adapted FINGER intervention among at-risk older adults. Technology is used to complement in-person activities, streamline the intervention delivery, personalize recommendations, and collect digital biomarkers.

Schizophrenia (SZ) is a serious mental disorder that can mainly be distinguished by symptoms including delusions and hallucinations. This mental disorder makes difficult conditions for the person and her/his relatives. Electroencephalogram (EEG) signal is a sophisticated neuroimaging technique that helps neurologists to diagnose this mental disorder.
