Traditional spiritual literature contains rich anecdotal reports of spontaneously arising experiences occurring during meditation practice, but formal investigation of such experiences is limited. Previous work has sometimes related spontaneous experiences to the Indian traditional contemplative concept of kundalini. Historically, descriptions of kundalini come out of Tantric schools of Yoga, where it has been described as a "rising energy" moving within the spinal column up to the brain.

Background: The phylum Euglenozoa is a group of flagellated protists comprising the diplonemids, euglenids, symbiontids, and kinetoplastids. The diplonemids are highly abundant and speciose, and recent tools have rendered the best studied representative, Diplonema papillatum, genetically tractable. However, despite the high diversity of diplonemids, their lifestyles, ecological functions, and even primary energy source are mostly unknown.

The international business (IB) field is maturing and developing conceptual frameworks, dedicated applications, and precise tools. In the course of this progression, the field has started to break away from its disciplinary roots, establishing parsimonious models using finely tuned but confined approaches. While fruitful in solidifying the sovereignty of the field, this progression comes at the expense of detecting and building on major undercurrents that define the rich IB context.

Polyphosphates (polyP) are energy-rich polymers of inorganic phosphates assembled into chains ranging from 3 residues to thousands of residues in length. They are thought to exist in all cells on earth and play roles in an eclectic mix of functions ranging from phosphate homeostasis to cell signaling, infection control, and blood clotting. In the budding yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae, polyP chains are synthesized by the vacuole-bound vacuolar transporter chaperone (VTC) complex, which synthesizes polyP while simultaneously translocating it into the vacuole lumen, where it is stored at high concentrations.
