Background: Historically, percutaneous transcatheter left atrial appendage closure (LAAC) has been performed under general anesthesia (GA) with transesophageal echocardiographic images obtained by a noninvasive cardiologist and usually requires an overnight hospital stay. Alternatively, we present our single-center experience performing LAACs under deep sedation (DS), employing an echocardiographic technician instead of a noninvasive cardiologist, and expediting same-day discharge. Mid- to long-term outcomes were also evaluated with follow-up imaging at a 45-day visit.

Transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (TEER) is an effective intervention for high-risk patients with severe symptomatic mitral regurgitation (MR), but its acute impact on left ventricular (LV) function has not been well studied using advanced echocardiographic techniques. This study investigated the immediate effects of TEER on LV volumes and functions, as well as their influence on mid-term outcomes, using high-resolution 3D transesophageal echocardiography. Objective: To characterize trends and outcomes of aortic valve replacement in patients <65 with aortic stenosis between 2013 and 2021.
Methods: This retrospective analysis included 9,557 patients who underwent biological aortic valve replacement in California, New York, and New Jersey from 2013 through 2021. Patients were stratified by approach: transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) versus surgical aortic valve replacement (SAVR).

Since the first transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) was performed in China in 2010, TAVR has developed rapidly. However, the temporal trends in the 1-year prognosis after TAVR in China have not been described. Transcatheter atrial septal defect closure is a prevalent minimally invasive treatment option but still has cerebrovascular accident (CVA) risk. An unusual thromboembolic CVA cause is device-related mechanical atrial injury. We describe the case of a patient with prior transcatheter atrial septal defect closure who had ongoing CVA despite anticoagulation.
