Objectives: This study evaluates a staged selective hybrid approach for acute type A aortic dissection. The approach involves a zone 2 aortic arch replacement with debranching of the brachiocephalic trunk and left common carotid artery to create a landing zone for thoracic endovascular aortic repair. This repair is performed either preemptively in the subacute phase to promote remodelling or electively in the chronic phase to manage aneurysm formation.

Mitral annular calcification (MAC) is a common finding, especially among the elderly or patients undergoing hemodialysis. Caseous calcification of the mitral annulus (CCMA) is a rare MAC variant with liquefied material at the calcified annulus. Surgical management of CCMA often involves wide excision and debridement, increasing the risk of perioperative stroke.

There is a strong association between cardiac surgery and perioperative complications. The Brazilian Surgical Identification Study (BraSIS 2) aims to assess the incidence of death and early postoperative complications, identify potential risk factors, and examine both the demographic characteristics of patients and the epidemiology of cardiovascular procedures.

Background: Extracranial internal carotid artery aneurysms (EICAAs) are rare, and both endovascular treatment and hybrid surgery have been used to treat them. Herein, we evaluated the outcomes of endovascular treatment and hybrid surgery for EICAAs treated at our institution.
Methods: Twenty-eight patients diagnosed with EICAA and treated with endovascular treatment or hybrid surgery in our center from January 2013 to June 2023 were retrospectively reviewed.

Objective: Traditional total arch replacement with frozen elephant trunk requires 2 separate grafts in the descending thoracic aorta and arch, and frequently requires a graft-to-graft anastomosis, which is prone to bleeding. The Thoraflex (Terumo Aortic) device treats the arch and descending thoracic aorta in a single device but has not been compared directly to traditional total arch replacement with frozen elephant trunk and has not been studied in a real-world context in the United States.
Methods: A consecutive sample of total arch replacement with frozen elephant trunk patients across 5 different institutions between January 2018 and January 2024, identified 438 patients of which 83 out of 438 (18.
