Introduction: The aim of this study was to evaluate the long-term treatment outcomes of basal implants in patients with severely resorbed ridges, including the survival and success rates, patient complaints, satisfaction, and Quality of Life.
Evidence Acquisition: An extensive electronic search was conducted on the search engines: PubMed, Web of Science, and Google Scholar using Boolean Operators (AND, OR, NOT) and the key words (basal implants, Corticobasal implants, Strategic Implants, severely resorbed ridge, severely atrophic ridge, treatment outcome, patient satisfaction) within the last 10 years.
Evidence Synthesis: A total of 21 articles were found, encompassing 9732 basal implants placed in 1219 patients.

Observations of maxillary (upper bill) bending in hummingbirds have been considered an optical illusion, yet a recent description of out-of-phase opening and closing between their bill base and tip suggests a genuine capacity for bill bending. We investigate bill kinematics during nectar feeding in six species of hummingbirds. We employed geometric morphometrics to identify bending zones and combined these data with measurements of bill flexural rigidity from micro-computed tomography scans to better understand the flexing mechanism.

Introduction: Segmental mandibular reconstruction using free fibula flaps and implants is challenging for maxillofacial surgeons and prosthodontists. This case report describes the successful use of Corticobasal implant reconstructive prostheses after a free fibula flap with five years of follow-up.
Clinical Case Presentation: A 24-year-old female presented to the clinic following segmental defect reconstruction using fibula reconstruction, owing to squamous cell carcinoma resection and seeking prosthetic treatment.

Advanced and uneven residual ridge resorption in mandibular edentulous arches leads to non-retentive and unstable dentures. The hardness of traditional heat-cured acrylic resin makes extending the denture base into bilateral lingual undercuts challenging. This can cause supporting tissue damage, pain, and ulcerations during denture insertion and removal.

Background: The introduction of presurgical nasoalveolar molding represented a significant departure from traditional molding methods. Developed by Grayson and colleagues in 1993, this technique combines an intraoral molding device with a nasal molding stent. This study aimed to compare the Grayson nasoalveolar molding appliance versus DynaCleft appliance as two methods of presurgical nasoalveolar molding.
