A unique V-shaped "chiral" supramolecular scaffold, -(4-pyridyl)-4-amino-1,8-naphthalimide Tröger's base (), was synthesized in good yield from a precursor -(4-pyridyl)-4-amino-1,8-naphthalimide (). was characterized using different spectroscopic methods and the molecular structure was elucidated by diffraction analysis. A new -cymene-Ru(II)-curcumin conjugate () was designed by reacting dipyridyl donor and ruthenium-curcuminato acceptor [ (-cymene)Ru-(curcuminato)Cl] in the presence of silver triflate. was isolated in quantitative yield and characterized using Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), NMR (H, C, and F), and electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS), and the molecular structure has been predicted using a computational study. Both and exhibited intramolecular charge transfer (ICT)-based fluorescence emission. Furthermore, the anticancer properties of , , and were assessed in different cancer cell lines. Gratifyingly, the conjugate displayed fast-cellular internalization and good cytotoxicity against HeLa, HCT-116, and HepG2 cancer cells and the estimated IC value was much lower than that of the precursors ( and and the well-known chemotherapeutic drug cisplatin.

With over 14 million people living above 3,500 m, the study of acclimatization and adaptation to high altitude in human populations is of increasing importance, where exposure to high altitude (HA) imposes a blood oxygenation and acid-base challenge. A sustained and augmented hypoxic ventilatory response protects oxygenation through ventilatory acclimatization, but elicits hypocapnia and respiratory alkalosis. A subsequent renally mediated compensatory metabolic acidosis corrects pH toward baseline values, with a high degree of interindividual variability.

Objective: Tumor consistency, or fibrosity, affects the ability to optimally resect meningiomas, especially with recent trends evolving toward minimally invasive approaches. The authors' team previously validated a practical 5-point scale for intraoperative grading of meningioma consistency. The impact of meningioma consistency on surgical management and outcomes, however, has yet to be explored.

In credit risk assessment, unsupervised classification techniques can be introduced to reduce human resource expenses and expedite decision-making. Despite the efficacy of unsupervised learning methods in handling unlabeled datasets, their performance remains limited owing to challenges such as imbalanced data, local optima, and parameter adjustment complexities. Thus, this paper introduces a novel hybrid unsupervised classification method, named the two-stage hybrid system with spectral clustering and semi-supervised support vector machine (TSC-SVM), which effectively addresses the unsupervised imbalance problem in credit risk assessment by targeting global optimal solutions.

DNA-protein cross-links (DPCs) are among the most detrimental genomic lesions. They are ubiquitously produced by formaldehyde (FA), and failure to repair FA-induced DPCs blocks chromatin-based processes, leading to neurodegeneration and cancer. The type, structure, and repair of FA-induced DPCs remain largely unknown.

Sjögren's syndrome-related dry eye (SSDE) is a severe dry eye subtype characterized by significant immune cell attacks on the lacrimal gland. However, delivering immunosuppressive drugs to the lacrimal glands for SSDE therapy safely and sustainably poses significant challenges in clinical practice. Herein, a ROS-responsive microneedle patch with detachable functionality (CE-MN) is developed to enable straightforward and minimally invasive administration to the lacrimal gland area by penetrating the periocular skin.
