The Lewis basic character of alkali metals forming donor-acceptor complexes is a very rare phenomenon. No Lewis adduct with an alkalide as the Lewis basic centre has ever been reported. Herein, we theoretically designed EXH (E = Li, Na, K; X = Be, Mg, Ca) clusters which represent the first true example of Lewis adducts with alkalides as the two-electron donor basic sites. Our high level calculations reveal the formation of an unprecedented E: → XH donor-acceptor interaction. Topological analysis within the realm of the electron localization function confirms this bonding scenario. The bonding scenario is exactly replicated in all the clusters, rendering support to our proposal. The calculated bond dissociation energies are significant, suggesting their possible spectroscopic identification.

The carbon dioxide (CO) capture and utilization strategy has emerged as an innovative and multifaceted approach to counteract carbon emissions. In this study, a highly porous muffin polyhedral barium (Ba) ̵ organic framework (BaTATB; HTATB = 4,4',4″--triazine-2,4,6-triyl-tribenzoic acid) was synthesized solvothermally. The three-dimensional honeycomb pore architectures were densely populated with Lewis acidic Ba(II) metal sites and basic nitrogen-rich triazines.

Proton-electron mixed conductors (PEMCs) are an essential component for potential applications in hydrogen separation and energy conversion devices. However, the exploration of PEMCs with excellent mixed conduction, which is quantified by the ambipolar conductivity, σ = σσ/(σ + σ) (σ: electronic conductivity; σ: proton conductivity), is still a great challenge, largely due to the lack of structural characterization of both conducting mechanisms. In this study, we prepared a molecule-based proton-electron mixed-conducting cation radical salt, (ET)[Pt(pop)(Hpop)]·PhCN (ET: bis(ethylenedithio)tetrathiafulvalene, pop: PHO), by electrocrystallization.

The physical separation of CH from CO on metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) has received a substantial amount of research interest due to its advantages of simplicity, security, and energy efficiency. However, the exploitation of ideal MOF adsorbents for CH/CO separation remains a challenging task due to their similar physical properties and molecular sizes. Herein, we report a unique CH nano-trap constructed using accessible oxygen and nitrogen sites, which exhibits energetic favorability toward CH molecules.

Converting CO2 to high-value fine chemicals represents one of the most promising approaches to combat global warming and subsequently achieve a sustainable carbon cycle. Herein, we contribute an organoboron functionalized ultra-thin metal-organic nanosheet (MON), termed TCPB-Zr-NS, featuring an abundance of exposed Lewis acidic B and formate sites, which can effectively promote CO2 conversion upon the addition of Lewis basic o-phenylenediamines. Compared with the prototypical 3D analogue TCPB-Zr-3D, the resultant TCPB-Zr-NS showcases dramatically improved catalytic activity for the cyclization of o-phenylenediamine as a result of the highly exposed active sites and efficient substrates/products diffusion.

Circadian rhythm is a physiological process that oscillates in a 24 h cycle. It has a complex connection with the function of the human immune system and even with the development of tumours. Previous studies demonstrated the time-dependent effects of chemotherapy and radiotherapy; however, there are few studies on the timing effects of immunotherapy.
