Exploratory laparotomy in neonates is typically performed via a transverse laparotomy incision. However, this incision may be complicated by poor cosmesis and scar contracture. In three patients, primary gastroenterologists identified significant scar contractures that resulted in pain and limitations with physical activity, necessitating surgical referrals.

This expert review provides recommendations for the cesarean technique after placental delivery to skin closure. Following placental delivery during cesarean, sponge curettage may be omitted as it has not been shown to decrease the risk of retained products of conception. Uterine irrigation and mechanical cervical dilation cannot be recommended.

Nipple reduction is a well-established procedure that is widely used and can improve the self-confidence of male transgender individuals. The nipple reduction procedure in male transgender individuals differs from that in cisgender females due to a greater disparity in postoperative nipple sizes compared to preoperative sizes. Flaps used in male transgender nipple reduction should be simple to avoid skin necrosis.

BACKGROUND Incisional flank hernias represent a complication after lateral lumbar spine surgery. Given the increasing rate of lateral lumbar interbody fusions, the rate of incisional flank hernias will increase.
