This meta-review aimed to appraise and synthesise findings from existing systematic reviews that measured the impact of compression therapy on venous leg ulcers healing. We searched five databases to identify potential papers; three authors extracted data, and a fourth author adjudicated the findings. The AMSTAR-2 tool was used for quality appraisal and the certainty of the evidence was appraised using GRADEpro. Data analysis was undertaken using RevMan. We identified 12 systematic reviews published between 1997 and 2021. AMSTAR-2 assessment identified three as high quality, five as moderate quality, and four as low quality. Seven comparisons were reported, with a meta-analysis undertaken for five of these comparisons: compression vs no compression (risk ratio [RR]: 1.55; 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.34-1.78; P < .00001; moderate-certainty evidence); elastic compression vs inelastic compression (RR: 1.02; 95% CI: 0.96-1.08; P < .61 moderate-certainty evidence); four layer vs

This study aimed to develop gastroretentive tablets based on mucoadhesive-floating systems with encapsulated gentian (, Gentianaceae) root extract to overcome the low bioavailability and short elimination half-life of gentiopicroside, a dominant bioactive compound with systemic effect. The formulation also aimed to promote the local action of the extract in the stomach. Tablets were obtained by direct compression of sodium bicarbonate (7.

This study presents the design, modeling, and validation of a mixing screw for energy-efficient single-screw extrusion. The screw features a short length-to-diameter (L/D) ratio of 8:1 and incorporates double flights with variable pitch and counter-rotating mixing slots. These features promote enhanced plastication by breaking up the solid bed and improving thermal homogeneity through backflow mechanisms relieving a 3.

Plug and abandonment of offshore oil wells is a costly and time-consuming process, yet it is necessary for the ever-increasing number of mature fields in the region of the Danish North Sea, as well as globally. Current practices ensuring durable solutions for the complete zonal isolation of oil wells have a large environmental impact. This paper proposes a novel resin that could be mixed on the platform and pumped into the tubing in a liquid state.

Civil and geotechnical researchers are searching for economical alternatives to replace traditional soil stabilizers such as cement, which have negative impacts on the environment. Chitosan biopolymer has shown its capacity to efficiently minimize soil erosion, reduce hydraulic conductivity, and adsorb heavy metals in soil that is contaminated. This research used unconfined compression strength (UCS) to investigate the impact of chitosan content, long-term strength assessment, acid concentration, and temperature on the improvement of soil strength.

Research Laboratory for Sustainable Development and Health, Department of Applied Physics, Faculty of Sciences and Technics, Cadi Ayyad University, Marrakesh 40000, Morocco.

Considering the growing need for developing ecological materials, this study investigates the acoustic, mechanical, and thermal properties of wood composites reinforced with beech or oak wood fibres. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) revealed a complex network of interconnected pores within the composite materials, with varying pore sizes contributing to the material's overall properties. Acoustic characterization was conducted using a two-microphone impedance tube.
