Ceftazidime-avibactam exhibits good in vitro activity against carbapenem resistant Klebsiella carrying OXA-48-like enzymes. We tested two hundred unique carbapenem resistant Klebsiella blood stream isolates (71% with single OXA-48-like carbapenemases, including OXA-48, n = 62; OXA-232, n = 57; OXA-244, n = 17; OXA-181, n = 5) that were collected as part of a multicentre study against ceftazidime-avibactam using Etest (bioMérieux, Marcyl'Étoile, France), 10/4 μg disc (Thermo Fisher) and Sensititre Gram Negative EURGNCOL Plates (Lyophilized panels, Sensititre, Thermo Fisher) with the aim of comparing the performances of the Etest and disc to that of Sensititre. Ceftazidime-avibactam MIC was 2/>16 mg/L for the entire collection and was 2/4 mg/L for single OXA-48-like producers. Categorical and essential agreements between the Etest and Sensititre were 100% and 97%, respectively. Categorical agreement between the disc and Sensititre was 100%. Etest and 10/4 μg discs are suitable alternatives to Sensititre for ceftazidime-avibactam sensitivity testing for OXA-48-like producers.

Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the microbiological and clinical heterogeneity of community-onset bloodstream infections (BSIs) and identify features to support targeted empirical antibiotic therapy in the Emergency Department (ED).
Methods: Clinical and microbiological data from 992 BSI cases (1,135 isolates) diagnosed within 24 hours of ED admission at IRCCS Humanitas Research Hospital, Milan, Italy (January 2015-June 2022), were analyzed. Drug resistance was interpreted using EUCAST-2023.

Background: This study was done with objectives of determining the predictors of mortality in patients with Gram-Negative Bacilli (GNB) Blood stream Infection (BSI) along with estimating mortality attributable to carbapenem resistance (CR).
Methods: In this prospective cohort study (January 2023-September 2024), done in 3 tertiary care centres in India, patients found to have mono-microbial GNB BSI were included. Primary outcome was crude mortality at day 30 of onset of BSI.

Background: Therefore, the objectives of this study were to investigate the prevalence of carbapenem-resistant hypervirulent (CR-hvKp) in Fujian Medical University Union Hospital, identify their genetic characters, characterize their resistance profiles, and identify risk factors for their infection to improve prevention and treatment strategies for CR-hvKp in the area.
Methods: Between January 2021 and January 2022, clinically identified carbapenem-resistant (CRKp) isolates were collected. A PCR assay was used to detect the K capsule type, virulence genes, carbapenemase genes, and membrane pore protein.

Background: Colistin, a last-resort antibiotic for treating multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacterial infections, has increased resistance as a result of the emergence of the gene. The 1gene, which confers colistin resistance, is often carried on plasmids, facilitating its spread by horizontal gene transfer among bacterial populations. The rising prevalence of 1mediated resistance poses significant challenges for infection control and treatment efficacy.

Purpose Hepatic abscesses remain a significant clinical challenge due to high morbidity and mortality. This research aims to examine the etiological spectrum, management approaches, clinical features, and results in hepatic abscesses in a tertiary care facility in northern India, emphasizing the distinctions among pyogenic liver abscesses (PLAs) and amoebic liver abscesses (ALAs). Methods This retrospective study was done at GSVM Medical College, Kanpur, analyzing 725 patients with hepatic abscesses over a 10-year period.
