Aim: This study translated HIV-Adherence Self-efficacy scale (HIV-ASES) and evaluated its psychometric properties in Pakistani HIV/AIDS patients.
Background: High level of adherence to highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) is required in management of HIV/AIDS; and it is significantly associated with self-efficacy for adherence to treatment. Understanding and enhancing adherence self-efficacy is a huge challenge for care management staff including nurses, counselors and doctors due to paucity of research and availability of valid and reliable instruments in Urdu language to assess HIV treatment adherence self-efficacy.
Methods: Brislin's translation method was used to translate HIV-ASES in Urdu. A cross-sectional survey consisting of a demographic questionnaire and Urdu HIV-ASES was administered on 300 HIV/AIDS patients seeking treatment in a government hospital. SPSS-20 and Mplus 8.1 were used for statistical analysis.
Results: Semantic, content, conceptual and technical equivalence between source and target versions were established. The final Confirmatory Factor Analysis model had 0.95 CFI and 0.06 RMSEA (CI = 0.04-0.08). Cronbach's alpha was 0.89 for full scale, 0.81 for integration, and 0.88 for perseverance subscales.
Conclusion: Urdu HIV-ASES is a valid and a reliable instrument for assessing HIV treatment adherence self-efficacy for further research, intervention and management of HIV/AIDS.

Background And Aims: Better understanding the challenges faced by patients on medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD), including methadone and buprenorphine, is critical to increasing their use/retention. Social media platforms such as Reddit offer a space for patients to share their experiences with medications. We aimed to identify and characterize challenges faced by patients taking MOUD through analysis of discussions from the r/Methadone and r/suboxone subreddits.

Background: This article discusses the ethical issues surrounding the integration of long-acting injectable antiretroviral therapy (LA-ART) in the programmatic management of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). As the medical landscape evolves, implementing LA-ART introduces many ethical issues that should be considered for the success of scale-up in diverse settings.
Methods: This article examines key issues such as bioethical concerns around the rollout of LA-ART, including regulatory requirements, a person's autonomy, informed consent, privacy and confidentiality; the societal implications of providing LA-ART, including the impact on stigma and discrimination; ethics around who receives LA-ART, financial accessibility, equitable access, inclusive decision-making and cultural sensitivity; and the ethics of providing an expensive intervention, including cost-effectiveness, supply chain sustainability and resource allocation.

Biosafety hazards can trigger a host immune response after infection, invasion, or contact with the host. Whether infection with a microorganism results in disease or biosafety concerns depends to a large extent on the immune status of the population. Therefore, it is essential to investigate the immunological characteristics of the host and the mechanisms of biological threats and agents to protect the host more effectively.

The high morbidity and mortality rate of individuals with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) / acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) coinfected with (MTB) is a tough challenge for current global tuberculosis prevention and control efforts. HIV/MTB coinfection is more complex than a single infection, and the interaction between the two diseases aggravates the deterioration caused by the disease, resulting in increased hospitalizations and deaths. Rapid screening and early diagnosis facilitate the timely initiation of anti-tuberculosis treatment in HIV/MTB coinfected individuals, thereby reducing transmission and the incidence of adverse prognoses.

Integrase strand transfer inhibitors (INSTIs) have emerged as the first-line choice for treating human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection due to their superior efficacy and safety. However, the impact of INSTIs on the development of neuropsychiatric conditions in people living with HIV (PLWH) is not fully understood due to limited data. In this study, we conducted a cross-sectional examination of PLWH receiving antiretroviral therapy, with a specific focus on HIV-positive men who have sex with men (MSM) on INSTI-based regimens (n = 61) and efavirenz (EFV)-based regimens (n = 28).
