Background: This study characterizes the prehospital and trauma bay airway management of self-inflicted gunshot wounds (SI-GSWs) to the face.
Methods: We reviewed SI-GSWs to the face from 2017 to 2021. Patients with isolated temporal GSWs were excluded.

Trauma triage is the use of trauma assessment for prioritizing patients for treatment or transport by injury severity. According to Taiwan Public Health Report, accidents and their adverse events were the sixth leading cause of death and accounted for over 7000 casualties in 2009. However, a lack of accuracy in identifying the severity of a patient's injury and their prehospital information can result in inappropriate triage.

Background: Rapid, adequate treatment is crucial to reduce mortality in sepsis. Risk stratification scores used at emergency departments (ED) are limited in detecting all septic patients with increased mortality risk. We assessed whether the addition of prehospital lactate analysis to clinical risk stratification tools improves detection of patients with increased risk for rapid deterioration and death in sepsis.

Objectives: Trauma-induced coagulopathy (TIC) is common in severely injured patients and is associated with significant morbidity and mortality.
Method: The association of two parameters of blood gas analysis (hemoglobin [Hb], base excess [BE]) with standard coagulation tests (SCTs) and rotational thrombelastometry (ROTEM) using the database of the TraumaRegister DGU between 2015 and 2022 was studied. In a stepwise approach, the occurrence of a TIC, the correlations between Hb/BE levels and SCT, as well as ROTEM were calculated respectively.

Massive blood loss is the main cause of prehospital trauma-related death, the development of rapid and effective hemostatic materials is imminent. Injectable hydrogels have the advantages of covering irregular bleeding sites and quickly closing the wound. However, its inherent viscosity can easily precipitate tissue adhesion and other complications.
