The broad goals of New York State's Medicaid Section 1115 Waiver are to enroll a majority of Medicaid beneficiaries into managed care, increase access and service quality, and expand coverage to more low-income New Yorkers. The RAND Corporation was competitively selected as the independent evaluator to assess two components under this 1115 Demonstration Waiver: the Managed Long-Term Care (MLTC) program and the 12-month continuous eligibility policy, which guarantees enrollees Medicaid coverage regardless of changes in income in the 12 months after eligibility determination and enrollment. This final interim evaluation examines whether these two components have helped achieve the program's goals. The RAND team's analyses show that the Demonstration has expanded access to managed care through mandatory MLTC enrollment and 12-month continuous eligibility. The team found no evidence of a significant change in patient safety or quality of care. The authors note that, although this means that there is no evidence the Demonstration achieved the goal of improving quality of care, increasing access without compromising quality of care is a success in its own right.

The purpose of this study was to identify whether NHS Trusts where discrimination in the delivery of care to patients from the South Asian community had been demonstrated had taken any actions to address the issue over the subsequent year. Freedom of information requests were sent to three trusts which had provided evidence of disparate provision of biologic therapy to patients with Crohn's disease, their associated Clinical Commissioning Groups and Healthwatch organisations to seek evidence whether they had remedied the situation. Requests were also sent to the Care Quality Commission, NHS Improvement and the Equality and Human Rights Commission seeking examples where they had responded to inequitable delivery of care related to ethnicity.

Background: Irrespective of baseline diabetes status, preoperative hemoglobin A1c (A1C) influences perioperative care in patients undergoing metabolic and bariatric surgery (MBS). Accordingly, the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) endorses that patients undergoing MBS should receive a preoperative A1C test. We aimed to assess the proportion of MBS patients who received a preoperative A1C test and determine whether baseline diabetes status influences receipt of a test.

Background: The increasing awareness of the emotional consequences of emergency cesarean deliveries (C-sections) highlights their substantial role in fostering postpartum post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). This systematic review and meta-analysis aim to evaluate the prevalence and determinants of PTSD following emergency C-sections, as well as the implications of these events on maternal mental health and welfare.

Methods: Undertaking extensive searches of Scopus, PubMed, PsycINFO, and Google Scholar, we have incorporated studies published from 2013 onwards that examined the occurrence of PTSD following emergency C-sections.
