Adenosine-5'-triphosphate (ATP) is the primary energy carrier in all living organisms, and its detection in living cells represents a well-established approach. ATP-driven bioluminescence (BL) relying on the D-luciferin-luciferase reaction is a bioanalytical tool widely employed for monitoring hygiene and microbial contamination of foods.Here, we report a straightforward method for ATP BL detection using an ATP sensing paper fabricated with an alternative freeze-dry procedure. The assay can be easily implemented in laboratories equipped with (i) freeze-drying, wax printing, and 3D printing technologies and (ii) instrumentation for BL detection such as benchtop luminometers and portable light detectors including a smartphone camera without the need for additional equipment.

Previous studies showed no improvement in bacterial biomass for Puniceispirillum marinum IMCC1322 under light regimes. Nevertheless, in nutrient-replete cultures with higher inoculating cell densities, strain IMCC1322 exhibited proteorhodopsin photoheterotrophy. Increasing both inoculum size and the amino acid pool can eliminate quorum sensing and starvation responses in strain IMCC1322.

This study developed an electrochemical immunosensor for the detection of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) in vegetable oil, based on an electrochemical modified carbon cloth (EMCC) electrode modified with a composite functional layer of cross-linked o-aminothiophenol functionalized AuNPs (o-ATP@AuNPs)/Prussian Blue (PB). The EMCC electrode substrate was prepared by modifying carbon cloth through electrochemical methods to increase its surface area, which allowed for the effective deposition of o-ATP@AuNPs/PB composite functional layer and improved the conductivity of the electrode material. The synergistic effect of o-ATP@AuNPs and PB significantly enhanced the sensitivity of the electrochemical sensor.

Elevated glucose levels at the fetal-maternal interface are associated with placental trophoblast dysfunction and increased incidence of pregnancy complications. Trophoblast cells predominantly utilize glucose as an energy source, metabolizing it through glycolysis in the cytoplasm and oxidative respiration in the mitochondria to produce ATP. The TGFβ1/SMAD2 signaling pathway and the transcription factors PPARγ, HIF1α, and AMPK are key regulators of cell metabolism and are known to play critical roles in extravillous trophoblast cell differentiation and function.
