Two layered galloborates (GBOs), NaGaBO (1) and NaGa[BO(OH)]·2B(OH) (2), have been solvothermally made. 1 exhibits an unprecedented layer built by GaO tetrahedra and BO clusters. 2 was made by raising the ratio of B/Ga and the reaction temperature of 1, featuring a 2D acentric layer built by GaO groups and BO(OH) clusters. 2 shows the highest second-harmonic generation (SHG) response of 4.6 times that of KDP (KHPO) among main group metal borates (MBOs).

Four new alumino-/galloborates RbMT (BO ) O (M=Ba, Sr; T=Al, Ga) have been synthesized for the first time by using a high-temperature solution method. All the title compounds have Sr Be B O -like structures, in which the [BO ] triangles and [TO ] tetrahedra form the final double-layered configurations with the M- and Rb-site atoms located between and in the double layer, respectively. The structure evolution from Sr Be B O to RbMT (BO ) O series is discussed.

A series of alumino/galloborates, including (HAPEA)[Al-BO]·12HO (1, APEA = N, N'-bis(3-aminopropyl)ethylenedi-amine), (HDETA)(HDETA)[AlBO] (2, DETA = diethylenetriamine), and (HEDAP)[GaBO]·HO (3, EDAP = N-ethyl-diaminopropane), was solvothermally synthesized and characterized in solid-state by powder X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, UV-vis spectroscopy, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. All of them feature the [MBO] (M = Al or Ga) frameworks, charge-balanced by the long chain-like amine cations. Three frameworks exhibit different interlinkage modes of {MBO} layers, resulting in channels varying in size and shape.

Three new galloborates, namely, GaB(5)O(8)(OH)(2)(en)(2)·H(2)O (1), LiGa(OH)(BO(3))(H(2)O) (2), and Rb(2)Ga(B(5)O(10))(H(2)O)(4) (3), have been synthesized by hydrothermal reactions. Compound 1 is the first example of a galloborate that contains an organic component. It crystallizes in space group P2(1)/c, and its crystal structure exhibits an infinite zigzag chain consisting of [B(5)O(8)(OH)(2)](3-) anions and GaO(2)N(4) octahedra interconnected via corner sharing.
