We characterize in situ grown parallel nanowires bridged by a superconducting island. The magnetic-field and temperature dependence of Coulomb blockade peaks measured across different pairs of nanowire ends suggest the presence of a subgap state extended over the hybrid parallel-nanowire island. Being gate-tunable, accessible by multiple terminals, and free of quasiparticle poisoning, these nanowires show promise for the implementation of several proposals that rely on parallel nanowire platforms.

The organization of the human genome in space and time is critical for transcriptional regulation and cell fate determination. However, robust methods for tracking genome organization or genomic interactions over time in living cells are lacking. Here, we developed a multicolor DNA labeling system, ParSite, to simultaneously track triple genomic loci in the U2OS cells.

A causal mediation model with multiple time-to-event mediators is exemplified by the natural course of human disease marked by sequential milestones with a time-to-event nature. For example, from hepatitis B infection to death, patients may experience intermediate events such as liver cirrhosis and liver cancer. The sequential events of hepatitis, cirrhosis, cancer, and death are susceptible to right censoring; moreover, the latter events may preclude the former events.

Purpose: Tuberose ( [Medik.]) is a vegetatively propagated commercial flower crop with limited genetic variability. Crossing barriers prevailing in tuberose necessitates modern breeding techniques like in vitro mutagenesis to generate variability.

Unlabelled: is a ubiquitous environmental pathogen. Despite its remarkable adaptability, little is known about the mechanisms of stress resistance in this bacterium. Here, in a screen for iron-susceptible transposon mutants, we identified a cytochrome that protects against multiple stresses.

Unlabelled: Interlinked interactions between the viral capsid (CA), nucleoporins (Nups), and the antiviral protein myxovirus resistance 2 (MX2/MXB) influence human immunodeficiency virus 1 (HIV-1) nuclear entry and the outcome of infection. Although RANBP2/NUP358 has been repeatedly identified as a critical player in HIV-1 nuclear import and MX2 activity, the mechanism by which RANBP2 facilitates HIV-1 infection is not well understood. To explore the interactions between MX2, the viral CA, and RANBP2, we utilized CRISPR-Cas9 to generate cell lines expressing RANBP2 from its endogenous locus but lacking the C-terminal cyclophilin (Cyp) homology domain and found that both HIV-1 and HIV-2 infections were reduced significantly in RANBP2 cells.
