Introduction: Subjective cognitive decline (SCD) is linked to memory complaints and disruptions in certain brain regions identified by molecular imaging and resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging studies. However, it remains unclear how these regions interact to contribute to both subjective and potential objective memory issues in SCD.

Background: High consequence infectious diseases (HCID) include contact-transmissible viral haemorrhagic fevers and airborne-transmissible infections such as Middle Eastern Respiratory Syndrome. Assessing suspected HCID cases requires specialised infection control measures including patient isolation, personal protective equipment (PPE), and decontamination. There is need for an accessible course for NHS staff to improve confidence and competence in using HCID PPE outside specialist HCID centres.

In silico trials for drug safety assessment require many high-fidelity 3D cardiac simulations to predict drug-induced QT interval prolongation, which is often computationally prohibitive. To streamline this process, we developed sex-specific emulators for a fast prediction of QT interval, trained on a dataset of 900 simulations. Our results show significant differences between 3D and 0D single-cell models as risk levels increase, underscoring the ability of 3D modeling to capture more complex cardiac responses.

Background: The detection and classification of lung nodules are crucial in medical imaging, as they significantly impact patient outcomes related to lung cancer diagnosis and treatment. However, existing models often suffer from mode collapse and poor generalizability, as they fail to capture the complete diversity of the data distribution. This study addresses these challenges by proposing a novel generative adversarial network (GAN) architecture tailored for semi-supervised lung nodule classification.

Three-dimensional structured illumination microscopy (3D-SIM) provides excellent optical sectioning and doubles the resolution in all dimensions compared with wide-field microscopy. However, its much lower axial resolution results in blurred fine details in that direction and overall image distortion. Here we present 4Pi-SIM, a substantial revamp of IS that synergizes 3D-SIM with interferometric microscopy to achieve isotropic optical resolution through interference in both the illumination and detection wavefronts.
