A systematic chain length variation of the ligand -MeOCHS(CH)SCHOMe (1 ≤ ≤ 8) was performed to study its effect on the structures and photophysical properties of the coordination polymers (CP) when reacted with CuI. Indeed, direct correlations are noted between these features and . When is an odd number, the secondary building unit is systematically the common closed-cubane CuI cluster, rendering the material strongly luminescent (, emission quantum yield, Φ > 20%), and the CP is one-dimensional (1D). However, when is 2, 4, and 6, the SBUs exhibit rare polymeric motifs of (CuI): staircase ribbon, fused poly(rhombic pseudo-dodecahedron), and accordion ribbon, respectively, and the emission intensities are either very weak (Φ < 0.001%) or of medium intensity (Φ ∼ 10% when = 6). When = 8 (. the most flexible chain), the SBU is a closed-cubane CuI and the emission intensity is medium (Φ ∼ 10%). A special case was observed for = 3, where a co-crystallization of the molecular cluster CuI(NCCH) is observed in the lattice, which turns out to be quite important for the stability of the network.

This study aimed to investigate the polymorphisms of circadian clock genes and the association of shift work and gene polymorphisms with hypertension in healthcare workers. This study recruited 222 healthcare workers, of whom 76 had primary hypertension (Hyp group) and 146 served as controls (Control group). General information and working hours were collected through questionnaires.

A series of novel cationic modified actinia-shaped composite coagulant (AMS-C), with similar tentacle length and distribution but different charge density (CD), was successfully designed and fabricated by combination of a cationic graft starch and attapulgite (ATP). AMS-C shows a high efficiency in coagulative removal of Microcystis aeruginosa from water over a wide pH range. The algae-harvesting efficiency of optimized AMS-C can reach to 92.

The study of the phase behavior of polyelectrolyte complex coacervates has attracted significant attention in recent years due to their potential use as membrane-less organelles, microreactors, and drug delivery platforms. In this work, we investigate the mechanism of protein loading in chain-length asymmetric complex coacervates composed of a polyelectrolyte and an oppositely charged multivalent ion. Unlike the symmetric case (polycation + polyanion), we show that protein loading is highly selective based on the protein's net charge: only proteins with charges opposite to the polyelectrolyte can be loaded.

Despite advancements in high-resolution screening techniques, the identification of novel perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) remains challenging without prior structural information. In view of this, we proposed and implemented a new data-driven algorithm to calculate spectral similarity among PFAS, facilitating the generation of molecular networks to screen for unknown compounds. Using this approach, 81 PFAS across 12 distinct classes were identified in soil samples collected near an industrial park in Shandong Province, China, including the first reported occurrence of 12 iodine-substituted PFAS.

Hepatitis D virus (HDV) significantly influences the progression of liver diseases. Through clinical observations and database analyses, it has been established that patients coinfected with HDV and hepatitis B virus (HBV) experience accelerated progression toward cirrhosis, hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), and liver failure compared to those infected solely with HBV. A higher viral load correlates with increased replicative activity, enhanced infectivity, and more severe disease manifestations.
