We describe the rapid growth of a Reed nevus followed by its slow involution and present dermoscopic follow-up images. The child was monitored for 10 years (from age 3 to 13 years) by digital dermoscopy. The Reed nevus completely lost its typical dermoscopic arrangement (starburst pattern) with involution and distinct changes in dermoscopic pattern.

Spitz tumors are melanocytic neoplasms characterized by specific, mutually exclusive driver molecular events, namely genomic rearrangements involving the threonine kinase BRAF and the tyrosine kinase receptors ALK , NTRK1 , NTRK2 , NTRK3 , MET , RET , ROS1 , and MAP3K8 or less commonly, mutations in HRAS or MAP2K1 . We hereby report 5 Spitz tumors with a SQSTM1::NTRK2 fusion. All patients were woman with the ages at diagnosis ranging from 30 to 50 years.

Spitzoid melanocytic lesions characterized by spindle and/or epithelioid tumour cells can occur anywhere on the skin but the acral presentation of Spitz naevus is very rare and comprises about <4% of all Spitz naevi. However, data regarding their dermatoscopic features on the acral volar skin are scarce. Herein, 11 cases of acral Spitz naevus involving the glabrous skin with predominant dermatoscopic findings of atypical fibrillar pattern in non-pressure bearing areas, a structureless pigmentation involving both the furrows and the ridges are presented.

Melanocytic lesions have a wide morphological spectrum, ranging from benign nevi to malignant melanoma. In contrast to a diagnosis of a benign nevus, a diagnosis of melanoma could mean intensive treatment, lifetime monitoring, and a worse prognosis. Therefore, melanocytic tumors are notoriously challenging and associated with a high risk of litigation in surgical pathology.
