Introduction: Sialendoscopy is a minimally invasive technique for the management of salivary gland disease. This work characterizes its utility for treating chronic sialadenitis due to Sjogren's syndrome and radioactive iodine (RAI) therapy.

Methods: A single-center, retrospective review of patients undergoing sialendoscopy between March 2013 and May 2019 for the treatment of chronic sialadenitis due to Sjogren's or prior RAI therapy was performed.

Results: Thirty-four patients with Sjogren's and 25 patients who received RAI were identified, undergoing a total of 86 procedures. Median age at presentation was 53 years with mean follow-up time of 14.3 months. Seventy-two procedures were performed on the parotid gland, four on the submandibular gland, and ten on both glands. Corticosteroid injection and duct dilation were performed most commonly. Sixteen patients required repeat procedure. All patients were symptomatically improved at follow-up visit.

Discussion/conclusion: These results support the idea that sialendoscopy offers symptomatic benefit for patients with chronic sialadenitis due to Sjogren's or RAI.

Sjögren's syndrome (SS) is a prevalent systemic autoimmune disease with substantial impacts on women's health worldwide. Although oral Haemophilus parainfluenzae is reduced in SS, its significance remains unclear. This study aimed to elucidate the pathophysiological role of H.

Objective: Submandibular salivary gland inflammation has been suggested as one of the mechanisms underlying impaired salivary secretion associated with sleep deprivation (SD). However, whether the salivary inflammatory response occurs to the same extent in paradoxical sleep deprivation with or without sleep recovery remains unknown. This study evaluated the extent to which inflammation influences salivary impairments associated with paradoxical sleep deprivation with or without sleep recovery.

: Sjögren's syndrome (SS), an autoimmune disease, was characterized by sicca syndrome and systemic manifestations, presenting significant treatment challenges. Exosomes, naturally derived nanoparticles containing bioactive molecules, have garnered interest in regenerative medicine. The present study aimed to elucidate the immunoregulatory properties and mechanism of exosomes obtained from the stem cells derived from human exfoliated deciduous teeth (SHED-exos) in SS-induced sialadenitis.

Sialolith-induced obstructive sialadenitis is a commonly encountered clinical scenario, yet the variations in the size and location of the stone can complicate immediate clinical assessment. Utilizing dynamic ultrasound imaging along with specific structural markers can provide valuable, immediate objective evidence in diagnosing submandibular sialolithiasis. This initial ultrasound evaluation streamlines the decision-making process by facilitating the timely scheduling of confirmatory computed tomography scans and guiding subsequent surgical interventions.
