Tattooing has recently regained popularity in medicine. Cosmetic blepharopigmentation for eyelid enhancement by permanent eyeliner has received considerable attention. In addition, permanent pigmentation has been used for eyebrow simulation, camouflaging of scars, nipple areolar pigmentation following breast reconstruction, and the management of several other pigment disorders. This article emphasizes the principles and technique of blepharopigmentation.

Objectives: This study compares the cosmetic and functional outcomes of corneal tattooing/keratopigmentation and ocular prostheses in rehabilitating disfigured eyes, focusing on esthetic appearance and emotional well-being.

Methods: Ninety-two patients were included: 48 received corneal tattooing, and 44 were fitted with ocular prostheses. Anophthalmic surgery was indicated for trauma, painful blind eye, endophthalmitis, tumor, and corneal ulcer, while corneal tattooing was performed for trauma, corneal ulcer, and endophthalmitis.

Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the effects of commercial tattoo inks used in corneal tattooing on conjunctival microbiota.

Method: This prospective case control study consisted of 125 participants divided in the following three groups: 35 patients with corneal tattoos, 40 patients with corneal leukoma, and 50 healthy subjects. Corneal tattooing was performed in all the cases in this study using a tattoo pen machine and commercial tattoo ink.
