The domestic canary (Serinus canaria) is one of the most common pet birds and has been extensively selected and bred over the last few centuries to constitute many different varieties. Plumage pigmentation is one of the main phenotypic traits that distinguish canary breeds and lines. Feather colours in these birds, similarly to other avian species, are mainly depended on the presence of two major types of pigments: carotenoids and melanins.

Aims: Familial ST-segment Depression Syndrome (Fam-STD) is a novel inherited cardiac disease associated with arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death. This study aimed at investigating the cardiac activation pathway in patients with Fam-STD, modelling the electrocardiogram (ECG) phenotype, and performing in-depth ST-segment analyses.

Background: Poor dietary choices may underlie known associations between having an evening diurnal preference and cardiometabolic diseases. Assessing causal links between diurnal preference and food intake is now possible in Mendelian randomization (MR) analyses.
Objectives: We aimed to use a 2-sample MR to determine potential causal effects of genetic liability to a morning preference on food intake.
